These crooks are using what is called a switch or spoofed number to call you...also sometimes called a ghost number also....it allows them to hide the number they are really calling from as well as their true identity and place anything they wish into the caller ID to make it appear they are calling from a legit business that you would recognise and answer (some have even been known to plug in the local police department of people they are soliciting...) fortunately they are not usually very smart, and they do not spell very well, so usually you can tell the caller ID name isn't quite right!  You can't call back a spoofed number because it doesn't really exist, that's why you get dead air or just beeping...but you CAN block them from calling you!  If they are calling your cell phone, you can block the entire number or even the area code so they can't call from a different number with that area code, right in your phone settings.  If they're calling your landline, call your provider and ask about having that number blocked from calling you.

Just received a call from this number on my cell, can't believe this number is still being used with all the scam reports!!!!  BLOCKED

Wow, rude rude people.  Been calling from Unknown number for weeks, which I have blocked on my private cell, and leaving threatening messages for a person named "Nicky Lancy" (whom I do not know and have never heard of before) saying they will be serving some kind of legal papers at my home in Fairfield County (I do live in Fairfield County which is interesting because I have a Manhattan phone number) by Oct 10th if they dont get a call back....then more calls saying last chance before legal action blah blah blah and service will be made so they need Nicky Lancy to be at home between 3 and 5 pm today to receive legal papers....finally they start calling from this 303 number today and leaving more messages abt Nicky Lancy!  I don't know this person!   They called 3 weeks ago from a 718 number and I told them I didnt know this person.  They said they'd remove my number then.  So I just called the 877 number they keep asking Nicky Lancy to call and some guy named Stanley Lach answers and says we are looking for Nicky Lancy.  I said yes I know...I DO NOT KNOW THIS PERSON.  I HAVE HAD THIS NUMBER FOR 10 YRS, 4 OF WHICH I WORKED for my cell provider and I researched the number then...noone named Nicky Lancy ever had this number, he obviously lied to you.  What is the name of your company.  He said "Alternate Dispute Resolution" Click.  Hung up on me!!!!  I called immediately back and he out me thru tonhis voicemail 3 times.  So I left him a nice long message like they left me for weeks....saying I know the laws and I'm on the do not call registry,  I have notified them that I do not know this person, more than once, they are still harassing me, I just called to get their name and address to send them a cease and desist letter but he so rudely hung up on me before I could ask him for the address, so I'm leaving him this message to once again pet him know that I do not know a Nicky Lancy, this number does not belong to a Nicky Lancy and if they continue to call my number and leave messages for Nicky Lancey I will be serving them with legal paperwork for harrassment!

Took this voicemail toady and called them back, they wouldnot explain the nature of their business just wanted my home number that they called on (I called from another phone) Sounds very suspicious - Do not give them any info:

“This message is for Riley bailey(?). This call is in regards to file number xxxxxx. Our client is seeking a final decision on how to handle this file going forward because we have not spoken to you this decision maybe made contrary to what you expect. Please call us back at 866-750-4733 and press extension one for more information to make sure no one wanted actions being taken return phone call is needed as soon as this message is received.”

This is a scam call for sure.  I've received the same cal from a NYC area code, this time this one.  They tell you its your "final notice...blah, blah, blah".  I could only wish it was my "final notice".  These scammers have called me with the exact same smg/scam at least 4-5 times.  I even held on the line one time to find out who they were, and they hung-up on me when I told them I was giving them no info..."you called ME".  It's a scam, plain and simple.  No I just say "no" and hang-up.

A guy with a thick accent (India???) calling from some network tech support division trying to get me to grant access to my pc due to issues with my pc/network.  This happened a couple of years ago and I got scammed out of $250.  The previous caller convinced me he was from Microsoft and that my pc was sending them error reports.  I purchased what I thought was a computer scan & anti-virus protection software only to find out is was malware.

Automated call from Wells Fargo stated by debit card had been locked. Funny thing is I do not bank with Wells Fargo.

Just got the call saying my bank of America card was locked. Hung up, and called card services. Card is fine. Just a fishing scheme.

We got the same call. We blocked the number, but they still leave voice mail.

I received a recorded call from this number this afternoon.  The recording said this was Bank of America and to press "1" to find out about an issue with my account  I did not press "1" and I hung up. I then called the customer service and verified that it was a scam.

Left a voicemail that sounded like a fax machine...

called me, said my mastercard had been locked and to reactivate, press 1. I pressed 1 even though I don't even have a mastercard, just to see if I could talk to a real person, and it took me to another recorded message asking me to enter my 16 digit card number.  I hung up.  Obviously a scam.

Called, nothing on the line... just line noise. I said "hello" a few times. No replies, just line noise. I hung up on them.

Called saying my debit card was "locked"(this is a work phone) and press 1 to speak to security. I pressed 1 and it asked for my debit card information. I didnt enter it and there was no way past the automated message so i hung up.

Got a call from them saying to enter my 16 digit credit card number. When I typed in 0000-0000-0000-0000 three different times (trying to talk to a person) they hung up on me. When I tried to call back the number was "not in service." SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!

Received calls from this number a few times a day. So annoying.

Yeah I get this call at least 3x a day threatened with legal action about something my ss# is tied into a fraud don'T pay these [***] any attention

Got a call on my cell phone and the guy at the other end was claiming to be a Microsoft technician who was reporting to me that my computer was being infected by a European server and data was being stolen from my hard drive. So he wanted me to run the event viewer (EVENTVWR). So while I was on the phone, I Googled EVENTVRW and found that this is a scammer who will steal your data and throw you to the wolves!
