They just called a minute ago at 10:30 am eastern time - no voicemail

Yep, just got a call right now. No message.

Just called me at my office. It sounded like some kind of fax machine, but I'm not sure. No message.

This number just called my work cell phone which is known by only a very few people. When I answered no one was there and I got a very strange blast of interference, not like a fax machine.

Just got the "Security System" add.  But the thing is, no one in this list is talking about their own situation.  If this board posting can do any good, we need to find the common denominator--what is it that got us on that list:

I tried a search on a site called "HotBot.com" last night which was strange and I did get a popup window that opened.  Hotbot is project of Lycos.com a subsidiary of Ybrant Digital and here are some of the other products they have:  Gamesville.com, Tripod.com, Angelfire.com, and Lycos.com.  Ringing any bells with anyone?

Got 2 calls, probably a huge AD call wave

I got a call from this number, picked up, said 'hello' and no one answered.

Just called me 10:49 am Dec 10, I'm in Washington, DC with Annapolis area code. Left no message, I didn't call them back either.

i too have an iphone. this number called me about 5 min ago. no message left. area code is out of Miami.

I really [sarcasm] love [/sarcasm] running through a whole bunch of useless "they called, and didn't leave voicemail" posts.  That's almost as amusing as the ones who post "Stop calling me!"  here.  

If you're looking for a "common denominator", you're not going to find one, though.   I've been working over [***] like these, and the other assorted scammers (auto warranty scam, "Rachel from Card Services" scam, etc) for a while.  In short, it doesn't matter if you have an iPhone, a Sanyo Katana, or an old rotary landline phone.  I've seen people try to compare notes and seen that carrier is not even a common thread.  

As may be clear to some, the folks pulling off these calls are essentially robo-war-dialing.   Simplified, that means autodialing every number in a system to get a response, with their computer, then forwarding "live" calls to someone in the office.  With the volume handled, <1% success is profitable,  This is why "I'm on the DNC List" is met with a click or a curse/click.  

These folks use caller ID spoofing to mask their location, but they're not untraceable.   One simply needs to get the IP address that made the connection to your phone at that particular time.  This might be more of a challenge to some than others.   With an IP address, though, you can get them shut down.   How you do that is up to you, and your conscience.

Missed a call from this number today, 12/10/13 at 10:13 a.m. No message left.  I'm in VA and I do not have an iPhone...or smartphone... I have a regular samsung flip phone, lol!

I received a call from this number last night at approximately 7pm. They let the call go to voicemail however they did not leave a message. I do not know this number at all.

Yep.. This number called me earlier today nd last week same area code but different number nd nope didn't leave a message either time..
