got the call today (July 23, 2010), about I'm a valued Canadian Tire customer and press 1 to get the travle dollar, but in fact, I barely go to Canadian Tire...Stupid!!!

I got called last night...seems they don't care what time it is...nor that they are calling a cell number long distance....I did not answer....and when I googled the number I found this site...thank you everyone...I have a terrifying ex who I have to hide from...and was worried...this sets my mind at ease big time! Still though....aren't cell numbers supposed to be safe from marketing calls?!

just now got the same call, as a valued Bell customer you have won travel dollars press 1 to accept. I hung up. A scam for sure!

Just received a call from this number (July 23 at 11am) but did not answer.

I usually only answer calls from those already in my phone book as opposed to unknown numbers. Also, the 306 area code is Saskatchewan and I do not know anyone (AFAIK) from this province.

No vm was left but it appears to either be a SCAM and/or telemarketer. I am inclined to believe this is a SCAM based upon other reports.

I'm been on the do not call list registry for over a year but it seems it is NOT working. I still get plenty of like calls on both my cell phone and my land line.

I got this as well. Mine was from "Canadian Tire" on my wifes phone. I am in the Moncton/Dieppe, New Brunswick area.

They are likely using a Voip dialer, with a spoofed number and could be based out of anywhere, and they are actually very easy to set-up. A good spoofer could even set it up so your own number displays on ur caller id. Youtube Swatting to see it in action.

Got a number from this call, pressed 1 so that I could tell them this is a cell phone, promptly hung up on me when I told them that.

(Note, this is a some lengthy tell all on my experience however if you wish to be removed from the list simply call this toll free number ask for dylan or to talk with someone in regards to be removed from there mailing list. Stay calm. Stay civil. The process doesn't have to be stressful. 1-800-961-4641. )

Essentially it is a phone call in regards to a time share (developer) and they want you to purchase a travel package .... take a tour of there resort... essentially the call in short is 'come on down and take a time share presentation' .... Now, (don't hate me) I use to sell time shares in Canada and I have heard horror stories about these mexican presentations. It really does depend on who is giving the presentation... (I was a nice guy when giving mine but due to management I followed some protocols like ... not gifting a couple for several hours..)


ADVICE: Press 1, say yes, yes, yes.. talk to the person and calmly express how you would like to be removed from there calling list.

B) Listen to the person on the phone and go along with it thus giving them a sense of fulfillment as they are reading a script. Assuming they dont interact with you alot it will take about 8-15mins


(the person will talk to you about going to a website to see there resort www.cancuncalling.com and give you a promotional code like:  vumep4928  (this is an actual code))  

Becuase I have time share (Sales) experiences I listened to the initial person and the actual sales person. and he hanged up on me.. naturally I called him back. He further explained they have had some issues with the phones and that  the article was in regars to another resort that I wasn't going to be staying at. I pointed out the fact that they are owned and operated by the same entity ... following the same system and eventually we agreed on removing my number from the lsit as I said I would call him back every time I got a call from his developer.
