First time they called, I answered. Got a recorded message saying they wanted to take a survey. I hung up. They continue to call. I repeatedly hang up or I just dont answer. Finally filed a complaint with the do not call list.

they seem to be legitimate.  Caller ID "NORC U CHICAGO" matches information on the CDC website.

    from http://www.cdc.gov/NIS/faq_h1n1.htm

I have had numerous calls from this company and have requested they take me off the list.  Unfortunately, they are a telephone surveyor company and are EXEMPT from the do not call list:

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm
“Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.”

Your only recourse is to contact them directly to request they take you off the list.

You may want to mention that if they continue to call, you will supply the surveyor with bad data.  It would waste their time and poison the validity of their study.  It’s about the only thing that will hurt them.

Who the heck is calling me at 9pm at night? After putting the name on my caller ID I saw these people are calling a lot of people.  Phone # was 312-759-4899.  How do they get away with this when I'm on a no call list?

When I finally learned this number was for a CDC survey I answered their next call because we all benefit from health surveys.  It seems many like to enjoy the health and medical standards of this country but complain if we have to contribute anything to it's research and development.

Yeah right! It is an invasion of privacy.

Remember HIPPA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996?

Nothing out of Chicago is legitimate since Al Capone. One of their first questions is how many rings will your main line ring before you answer it. Wonder why?

They even call on Sunday evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with these people. Everytime they call me I file a complain with the FCC

    https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

I refuse to answer their calls - I don't care who they are. I am on the do not call list for a reason & they need to respect that.

Please, please, please call & complain. Thank you.

    Former phone surveyor/telemarketer
The ONLY thing that will work is saying "remove my name from the list".
Anything else is sent to a person specially trained to deal with people who don't want to cooperate with the sale/survey.
    It's very insidious

If they are so "legitimate," they should leave a voice message. Instead, if you don't answer the call they remain anonymous by hanging up but then keep calling back and back and back. Bad form for a "legitimate" business.

I also am convinced that the way they got my cell phone number is through AT&T wireless phone lists. First, the explanation the NORC website give for how they get your phone number is nothing but nonsensical double-speak.  "From banks"?  Really???

All I can tell you is that a few weeks ago I changed wireless carriers after having been with my previous carrier for five years, now changing to AT&T.  Previously I had NONE of these type calls over the previous FIVE YEARS I was with my other wireless carrier (with the same number!).  In the two weeks since I switched to AT&T, I have had approximately 15 of these type calls already, although only three from this particular number.  IN JUST TWO WEEKS!  Don't tell me it's not connected to them somehow getting my wireless number from AT&T wireless records. Too coincidental.

Since there is a spam advertising post on here for Alen Air Filters, and since I recently (about a month ago) visited the Alen Air Filters website to order some replacement filters, and since in the last month ONLY I started to get the many no-caller-ID, hang-up calls from this spam NORC number, I am going to conclude that this NORC operation that claims to be doing legitimate health "research" gets at least some of the numbers for its robocalls from Alen Air Filters. Not good form, Alen. Won't do business with them again.

And I don't care how "legitimate" some of you want to make out NORC to be, if you robocall someone four or five or six times and they don't answer, STOP CALLING THAT NUMBER!  They don't want to talk to you.

Thank you so much Kevin. I have contacted him to be removed. I hate when companies can bypass the National do not call registry.

These people called my husbands cell phone asking about our children's immunizations.  My husband hangs up but that is really disturbing.
