The caller identified themselves as from Spectrum.  Said our discount on our monthly bill was over and she said she could search if we were eligible for any new offers.  She said we were but to get the lower monthly $$ amount we had to pay the first years $$ upfront.  Was a very long call and was realistic.  Then she transferred to someone else to work out how to pay the first year.  During the call I was google searching and discovered it was more than likely a scam.  Then I hung up.

I asked the interwebs about this and got an interesting AI reply:
