- VanessaI'm 17 years old, senior in high school about to go to college for the fall. Today I got a call from that man and I am so upset. This has to stop they need to stop him and send him back to India. Like I said I'm going to College so when I heard the lady telling me I had a government grant money, I was happy but then when I talk to that fake accent John Spencer he told me that I had to pay 234 dollars. Like seriously what the heck. Who has to pay the government to give money. Grant money is always free and is mostly used for education. thank God I am smart enough to know it's a scam and when I told him what if it's a scam, his lying behind denied it. I get it man the economy is tough but at least have the decency to make money in the correct way like me, going to college. If he calls me again I'm telling my dad who is cop and he will make sure his behind goes behind the bars.
- ErinThese people really think that the Indian accent doesn't give them away? Our government (which is poor and in the dumps) is going to outsource to India (yea right) to give us 5000 dollars (ha!) for the small fee of $234 in processing fees (WTF!?) that we will receive back in 5 minutes... Wow! Hard to believe that some people are dumb enough to fall for it!
- BhattiI just received a cal from Tracey, with full of heavy accent. She said me that I am approved for 7000 grants. But I have to make a deposit of 199 dollars. Thank God I was in front of my laptop and I searched on google and find out that its a scam.

- SalI received the same call too. He sounded Indian. In the beginning he was nice, however after I kept on asking him questions about the $7,000 federal grant, he got pissed. I hung up on him. He called again cursing his head of telling me to go back to "India". lol. O-kay.

- shayhug| 1 replyI just got the same kind of call about 20 minutes ago. It was kind of funny because he said that because I haven't been late on my bills I was picked to get a $5000.00 grant. Thats when I said that my husband had been out of work for 6 months and that we haven't been current on our bills since. Then he says well then this money is really going to help. I laughed and said ok well how much money does this free money cost. 190.00 he says so I tell him that I will call him back with my card information. I know this is a scam I was just messing with him. So I call him back and tell him that he is sick and stupid if he thinks I sending him a dime. He says the money is to make sure I am who I say I am. Well some places I know do this as well but they can do it with $1.00. Now he is mad and he gives me an address to prove it is real. 200 Independent Ave, Washington District, 20211. What a moron if you look up this address it does come up but at a 20201 zipcode. They really stop at nothing to scam people out of there hard earned money. I truely hope no one falls for this it is so sad.

- Alexey DYeah I got one of these calls too. I told them that it doesn't sound that they are calling from Washington D.C. because they had a un-understandable accent. I told her that she speaks to fast and told her to slowly repeat it to me, she became impatient that I made her repeat it for the 3rd time, but still proceeded. Meanwhile I googled "US Gov. $7000 Grant" and just as I started reading up about this scam, the phone gets disconnected. Thank you for the funny stories, the truth is funny sometimes

- Dan| 1 replyI just received a call from an East Indian scam artist who said I qualified for a $7000.00 grant. I just needed to give him a credit card number or bank account number and they would transfer the money into that account. They also said I could use a wal-mart gift card. I had to call back with a code to 202-391-0961 and talk to an account manager.
- Caller: No idea, claimed US Government
- No1scammingme replies to DanSo, I received a call this morning from an East Indian guy who claimed to be from the US Government Grant Department in DC. He stated I had been selected to receive $7000 to help pay off my school loans or bills but I couldn't use it for booze or drugs. I thought to myself, "Really, this is what they are using as qualifications now"? I was suspicious from the beginning as I am not a trusting person and the accent didn't help his case. He began to ask a series of questions that anyone with a phone book would know like what is my name, address and such. Then he stated all I needed was a bank account number and I would have the money that afternoon. I don't know about you, but I work for the government and nothing moves that quick. I told him he was smoking crack if he thought I was going to give him my bank number and then he got an attitude and told me to hang up if I didn't believe him, so I did. That was that.
- Authur GormanOh ya it's happened to me to 7000 from us government grant money. I had to call John smith then he told me to get the 7000 I had to pay 310 for verification. I told him I didn't have the 310 he told me to barrow it from a friend. I told him if the government wanted to give me free money they would have me pay for it and they all ready no who I am. Since I was getting the money becuase I was such a outstading citizen with no bankruptcy, criminal record, and I always pay my bills.
- LauraI got a called but not from 323 617 5965. My cell phone said "caller unavailable". Eastern Indian accent who said he was from the US Government Federal Branches and I was selected because I have no criminal record, pay my bills on time, and have not filed bankruptcy. I qualified for a $7,000 grant from the government. I asked him to send me information via snail mail so I could review it because I wasn't going to give him my credit card number or banking information. He hung up. Obviously, this scam works because I see posts from two years ago. Poor people who buy into it. I think of senior citizens (some of them our grandparents) and others who really need from $$ and fall for the scam.

- DivineI received a phone from a person name Lily Miller, she has a Korean accent and told me that the government is giving out a grant for people that has no criminal records and hasn't filed bankruptcy. She said I was one of them. She gave me a phone number 202-621-0076 to claim my grant, then the phone was disconnected. I was thinking that this might be a scam trying to get information from me. So, I called this number and I spoke with a man with like an Indian accent and asked him what is the name of the company. He said it's a government grant. They help people to process their grant that the government gave them. He asked me to send them $234.00 for deposit so he can process my grant so I could receive my money. When I told him that the government not going to give money just like that. I told him if the government is giving out grant why they are asking for deposit. He said it was a processing fee. When I told him it is a scam, he started screaming.

- Sonnie B.I just got a call from a 576 area code. It was an Indian woman that I could barely understand. She told me I was selected 2 receive $7000 from a grant for not filing bankruptcy in the last 6 months. She said as long as I don't use the $ for illegal purposes they would deposit into my account or put it on a Walmart card. I told her to send the check to my house. She said oh no we can't do that. Of course I told her she must think I'm an idiot i am supposed to believe im getting $7000 free & if I'm going 2 give out any information regarding my bank account. What the hell??
- Stephanie.I got the same call. Saying that if i went to western union and gave them a security deposit of 260$ that i would receive my $7,000 grant. Told me that i would have to call him when i got there so he could give me the information. So i said okay and hung up. Do i look stupid enough to send someone that kind of money and expect them to send it back. Ive recieved multiple calls from weird numbers all day. Where could i report this? Id like them to stop calling me, im almost out of minutes!!!
