A female called and said she was with a child's wish and ask me to give $20.00 and that they helped terminally ill children with their last wish.  I did look this organization up and they are listed with the Better Bs. Bureau but they have not complied with the 20 standard questions that would enable to identify them as a legitimate charity.  Based on previous posts, more than likely this is a call center that handles fundraising for various organizations.... the lady that called me didn't seem sincere, she laughed in the middle of her speech like she was just hanging out with a bunch of her friends....I agreed to donate and received a pledge invoice in the mail.. not sure I will send the $$$ until I can learn more about them.

Person called and hung up when the answering machine answered the call. Upon me returning the call I got an answering machine message stating that the person at this particular extension was unavailable at this time. This is kind of odd since you never get an extension at a mass calling phone service. You always get an operator or get a recorded message asking for the extension first. This is always a bad sign. Anyway, after that was over with the recording went on to say, leave a message after the tone, and immediately it stated that the mailbox was full to try again later. I called the next day just to be sure and got the same exact message. I went online to check the number and I think like a lot of other people got the same information. It was in fact from Montgomery Alabama, which is what was on my caller id. Then looking further into the information, it seems to be registered to Ymax Communications. More information revealed that literally dozens of people have gotten a similar call from a person(s) claiming to be from Make a Wish Foundation or similar foundations for children and requests donations. If this was a ledidimate foundation service they would not be so hasty in hanging up the phone, nor would they have such a bogus answering machine service/message on their phone. I think the bottom line here, and this is my humble opinion, "NEVER GIVE ANYTHING OVER THE PHONE" no matter how genuine or legidimate the phone caller is. I give to local foundations, and to children's hospital when I can. You would be wise to do the same. There is just too many people out there trying to scam hard working people out of their money while they sit around and think up a new scam. I wonder why people like this are still in business. If its an obvious scam, why doesn't the government shut them down immediately upon discovering what they are up to?

I received a call saying it was a collection agency and I had an outstanding debt of $189....They had called before and left messages on my machine which I never returned.  This one I answered.  The guy had a strong foreign accent and I could barely understand anything he said.  I am 100% sure I owe no-one anything...I immediately checked my credit reports and all was well...perfect credit and always has been.  I hung up on them long before they got too far...I just understood the part about an outstanding balance.  I don't have caller ID...I did the *69 to get the last incoming phone number.  It sounds as if this is a true scam place.

This is a scan number used to tell you that you have employment with a company in Asia to do collections for them for North American clients.
They will as for personal information to send you a payment based on a salary + commissions.
I contacted the company in Asia and they stated there is no such program being offered by them.
They requested I use caution and not offer them personal information.

This Charity uses the Commercial Fundraiser: Community Support, Inc. Commercial Fundraisers are generally the people that contact you and actively seek donations on behalf of the Charity. They give a portion of the donation collected to the Charity. Then the Charity has its own inefficiency and expenses.

I did a search on  intellus,  they said it is ymax communications of alabama.  the call i got was fishy , anbody get this call ask them questions , mybe they will give out some info  , they knew most of my info except address ?

Lady said she was from make a wish foundation, didn't give me time to say no just hung up.

Hung up on answering machine. Using the name of a children's charity is indefensible.

This number just called my home phone.  I answered after the second ring.  They said nothing, even after I paused and said hello a second time, then I ended the call.  I live in Montgomery, and the caller ID said Montgomery, AL with the number shown without the area code.

How To Stop These Calls
1) Contact your State's Attorney's General's Office, Charity Division.
2) Request help dealing with Commercial Fundraiser(s), and Charities harassing you.
3) You will need Both the Commercial Fundraiser's and Charity's contact information, name, address, and phone number. <provided below>
4) Request the AG formally request these charities, do not contact you, and do not sell/trade/transmit your personal information.

Wait 1 month, if they continue to call, contact the AG’s office again, and request further assistance.

I keep getting calls from this number and then they hang up.  Is there anyway to stop them without costing me money to block the number?

I have a child with spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down..be very very careful about phone calls etc....do your research..it pays in the end to know that people like you help people like us..keep up the good work...United Cerebral Palsy is a great one..no questions asked!!

Started receiving calls from this number. Hope government catches the people that are making these types of calls because they are getting pretty regular lately. SCAM!!!!!!!!!

Female caller said she was with LAST WISH, organization provides for terminally ill children.  I explained that I was a retired Federal Employee and would be recording the call....she hung up.....

My husband got the call.. Number out of Birmingham, Alabama. Said they where Firefighters Burn Fund, Inc. Address is PO in Birmingham ALabama, Chiefland,FL and Georgia. He made a pledge of donation after they finished talking. I had concerns and checked. Seems they are a legiatiment charity...BUT I can't seem to find anywhere the have helped anyone. It states that they help burn victims. They are trying to send all these burned kids to CAMP. After checking with several camps in Georgia and Florida.. All the responses are that they have heard of them only from people asking questions about the charity. They had never recieved any donations are help of any kind from this charity.
I was also told that any Charity that calls you over the phone asking for money was usualy a scam. There is several state newspaper warning people to beware of this exact company. If you get the call , ask them what camps they work with ? WHat state are they located in ? How much of your donation will go to the victim ? Hope this helps :)

They just hung up when I answered the phone.  I called back and received a message stating their mail box was full.

They just called @ 8:35. I jumped up to get the phone. They asked for my wife, when I asked who they were, they just hung up. I called them back, but the recorded msg said they couldn't accept incoming calls and their voice mail was full. This is not a legit company at all. If it was, they'd have a WORKING INCOMING NUMBER, and instruct their little toothless trolls to be POLITE to the people they're trying to SHAKE DOWN.
They'll get theirs, no doubt, each and every little miserable one of them.
