Origins:   The "one ring" telephone scam is similar in form to the venerable 809 area code scam in that both involve trying to dupe unwary phone customers into calling a foreign phone number in order to stick them with hefty charges. While the 809 scam involves sending pages, faxes, voicemails, or e-mail messages that supposedly relay important information (e.g., news about a distressed family member or a notification of prize winnings) in order to lure the recipient into calling a provided phone number, the "one ring" scam employs a simpler technique: the scammers place calls to blocks of phone numbers (sometimes with the use of robo-call devices), disconnect each call after a single ring, and hope that the owners of some of those numbers will be curious enough to call back:

So here is the Catch, they only Calls u and hang up in 1 ring so that we call them, I called them They said Its a reward redemption programme and I won $100 (It sounds like fishy), I thought to look for it and Pressed one. It took me to representatives. She started explaining me That I can use this Gift card At walmart and other Many stores etc. Later she asked me my street address to mail the Gift card. Now she said she will also give me an Gift card of $25 along with $100 card. (again sounds fishy) It sounds like I m her Boy friend of something so she is giving me for free lol, now after all this finally she says I need pay $4.75 for shipping in order to get the $125 benefit. And asked my Credit or debit card info. This point I asked their website. They didn't have it, I asked the office address she said Its in Manhattan NY, I said ok. I asked gimme any two names of street near Mangattan, and she had no answers, which means they are not here Its a scam, I have a software to trace the internet calls, I traced the call I found it was coming from Philippines. I told her on face you Guys are Scam and she hung up on me.

Called at 11:16 am, rang once, did not leave a message.  After reviewing all these responses to the "one-ring call", I am putting this number into the auto-reject lest. As for the call type, there should be a category of "pest".

Reported to FCC. One rep told me that their business address is in Clearwater FL.

I get these calls to and I don't answser

Yes, I called them back and it was from a "reward  center" however, if you stay on the line it tells you to press 2 if yu want to be put on the do not call list which I promptly did !
