This number called my cell phone and then my work number.  Said they needed to do employment verification.  I called back and the answering service said  "thank you for calling psb... ....or you will be automatically directed to the issuing firm" and then the call drops.

They called and left a voicemail stating that they were trying to serve me documents regarding a lien on my house. I don't live or own property in the state they are calling from. I called the courthouse where I live and own property, and they assured me that there is no lien. They also advised that a phone call is not a form of service in my state, so unless they physically show up at my property with paperwork, it is probably a big scam.

Yes, this is called the Process Service Scam. They are big fat liars who will try to shake money out of you to remove the "lien".  Ignore the call. Block the number.
