I also received a call from a Julie Smith on my home phone to call back urgently
but was not there? but James Anderson said the same that everyone mentioned on
being arrested on the spot, I wish something could be done to stop this type of fraud.

Got a call a few minutes ago and they left a message. I listened to message and it was from a Julie Smith saying something about contact them before they take action. It sounded like a mechanical person on the recording and when I called back it sounded like an east indian man and he started to ask me for my lawyers info and such. I questioned him about him being from the "IRS" which is in the US and he hung up on me. I then called my telephone company and reported it and will be filling a report with the rcmp scams and fraud division.

Recorded message to call the IRS, because of trouble. Well this is a very old scam and it seems to be going around again. The government web site for the IRS has some information on what to do about these phishing scams and also more recent alerts about different scams.
These calls seem to be coming from California and reverse lookup says YMAX communications Corp. I'm not sure if this is correct or not. Report this number to the IRS on there web site. Get a phone that blocks call. Use a call blocker on cellphones

call from 415-2519813 at 6am saying they are from th IRS and call back to avoid prosecution

Got a voice mail from Julie Smith claim that I owe taxes,  called back next day thus Michelle brown answered said I should be aware if the tax I owed to IRS, told her I don't think so, I pay my taxes every year, she hang up on me right away, tried call back three times, she keep hang up as soon as she pick up, then everything went to voice mail.  Total scam.. anyone know How to get them legally?

I got a call from this number at 8:30 AM East Coast time and that was 5:30 AM California time. The caller claimed to be an IRS Officer, that I owed five years back tax, I said I did not receive any letter from the IRS as to this issue, but the guy with Indian accent told me they are after me, to take my house and all I have that I should give him the name of my Lawyer etc. He hung up and called back again when I did not answer the call, he left a message that I have issue with the IRS and that I should call the number showing on my caller ID to resolve the issue. I called the Verizon telephone Company to find out more about where the number came from but they could not give me a genuine clue. The IRS should fish this people out and deal with them.

Same as most everybody else.  Just remember that the IRS would never "call" you with such a claim.  You would get it in writing the same way you get your audit notice.  Never call these people back.  They will get your real number from caller ID and with reverse look-up they will get your name and address.  Then they can do a quick search on facebook and find out who your friends are.  Then they could check out Linked-in and get your entire work history as well as your current employer, the college you went to, etc..  They can also get all of your work connections.

The safest thing to do is just block the call.  Most hard lines support *60 call blocking (for AT&T).  Ask your provider if you can get it.

IRSs person(woman) claimed to be from the IRS and said I must call her immediately when I retrieved the voicemail in order to avoid legal problems.  The number she left was 415-251-9813

Same thing for my call.  A message was left telling me it was Julie Smith from the IRS.

phone number was 202 506 8465.  Julie Smith from the IRS.  I enjoyed the "take care" at the end of her message.  not the IRS' style I presumed...

Got a message on my answering machine from "Julie Smith". It was a computer generated or robot message, not a live person. I just ignored it. Figured the real IRS would keep calling or send a certified letter first.
