- MWAT 8:00am EST I received a call today on my landline. I didn't answer the call because I didn't recognize the number. The message left was this:
"This is Julie Smith from the Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 415-742-7561. I repeat it's 415-742-7561. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care."
I immediately googled the phone number and found this site. Thank you to whom ever started this post. Very helpful!
I to reported this to http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml
I hope the IRS stops them and threaten to arrest them. There are tons of bullies out that and I hate to see someone that doesn't know any better to fall for this type of Scam.- Caller: Julie Smith from the IRS

- JasonThis is the 2nd time I've gotten this call. The 1st time was about a year ago. The same exact creepy sounding recorded message about how the IRS is going to take action on you and that you are urged to call now!!
The 1st time I don't think I even was able to quite get the phone number so I did not end up ever calling (I'm daring)
Today I got the call again and wrote down the number. First, I googled it and immediately found all these forums about the number. So, I called and played dumb and then got all in his face about his name and position and I demanded his supervisors name and contact number….he said " This is not a customer service line call the 1-800 number" And then hung up.- Caller: IRS

- ACitizenSo I got a call this morning on a phone # that I never use. I called back immediately and a girl answered. I told her this was not the IRS and she said yes it was and hung up on me. Then I kept calling back and it kept sending me to a voice mail. Then I called back and some guy with a slight accent answered. I asked him what kind of scam this was and he answers the worst kind. I couldn't help but chuckle then he just let out such an evil laugh...actually gave me shivers. Truly evil people.

- Margo CReceived a call from 415 742 7561. They left a message that Julie Smith from Internal Revenue need us to call back or they would start action to have us . My husband is a disable veteran with a severe nervous condition, I called back and was told to leave a message, I did but after thinking about it and now my husband is a wreck I did some checking and found your site. He is calmed somewhat now knowing this is a scam. Thank you for your site. Today is January 10, 2015
- JamesPissed off in NE. I received the same call. Scared the crap out of me. Thanks to all of you I now know it is a hoax. I keep calling them back and I either get Frank or Eric (sounds like the same guy)...I have gotten the situation to escalate into verbal abuse...LMAO. Having fun calling them about every ten minutes.
I have awarded Frank with the office's smallest [***] award and Eric gets the award for being my [***].
When you call' feel free to congratulate them on their awards!!! - Keith PI received a threatening phone from a Doe name "Julie Allen, Internal Revenue Service" to return phone call before they take action against. Well, this one is clever but: after having a business for 10 years and in the workforce for 40, I have had my expereinces with the IRS and they certainly do not behave in this manner. Even Lois would be ashamed.

- GordonThese people called yesterday, January 15, 2015. First it was agent Julie Smith who left a message that "You better call back". Being a good citizen I follow "the agent's" demand. Some male "agent" answered and said Julie was in the bathroom. That is when the fun started and did not end until 10 minutes later. I they wanted my date of birth and SSN and I gave them "a" DOB and SSN which seemed to satisfy the "agent". I played with them and at the end unloaded causing the "agent" to hang up on me. I called back a few more times but by the last call, the number was disconnected. What I did discover was that the phone number they were using was a "Magic Jack" so the area code they used (415) was probably not from the San Francisco area.
This call made my day and I was sorry to see that they changed their number. I doubt whether I will be hearing from them again, but I sure hope I am wrong. They certainly did not like what I was vaguely implying to them.- Caller: "Internal Revenue Service"
- Call type: Debt collector
- ColoradoReceived a call today from a James Sott claiming that The US Dept of Treasury and the Dept of Local Affairs. Has issued a warrant out for may irrest for tax fraud, etc. etc. He asked if I received the three prior notices to take action. They had my address as well. Said I will go to jail for up to 6 month and all my assets FROZEN. VERY AGRESSIVE. I asked for the social security number they had and he said "that is all, good bye".
