Had a call from this number. said it is about my CIBC card. He had an indian accent. I hang up on him. it wad 9:30PM.

This is a scam # so please anyone who gets it.. do not give out any information.. just hang up.. the only problem with that is they keep calling back when you try to talk to them .. they pretend they cannot understand you.. the calling is really annoying as they call alot. I am a shift worker and when this calling starts and I am trying to sleep it gets really annoying.. its a scam... be careful everyone !!!!!

They called tonight. When they asked foe me I said "He's at work but I can give you his direct line" they agreed so I proceeded to give them the number to Phone Busters... THEY CAN KISS MY @$$

Same garbage as the other people have posted.
Put the phone number into call block so that he can no longer get through.
Why does the government allow these leaches and fraudsters to operate ?
It should be illegal to operate one of these scams. Bell Canada and all telephone service providers should be fined heavily for everyone of the companies that the allow to operate after a first complaint. But money is what rules and the government will allow anything if a lobbyist pays them enough.

Just called this PM.  Did not pick up, as it showed as long distance...i.e. 1+416, but 416 is a Toronto area code.  No other ID shows.

Called tonight.  Unlike the other calls reported, this one was a woman.  "Calling about your exisiting Visa and Mastercard".  I don't have a mastercard.  I said, "Do you represent Visa?"  "We represent all the credit card companies."  I said, "You're peddling another credit card, are you?"  She said, "No, you can use your existing card."  Said they were having a promotion, whereby you can lower your rate to 3.9%.  I said I wasn't interested, she said thank you, & that was the end of it.  
We have a Telezapper, which may prevent further calls.

Wow, this is exactly what happened to me.. the whole friendship thing and everything. So weird...

Just rang with this number displayed.  I didn't pick up, the number alone looked like an obvious scam.

I also received a call from this number.  As soon as I responded they hung up.

An Indian sounding gentleman said he was calling on behalf of my existing Visa and Mastercard.  He didn't seem to understand when I said, "Both?" and just repeated himself.  Was offering a 3.9% interest rate on any card not already under 10%.  Obvious phishing attempt since almost every credit card in existence just shot up in rate.  I told him I had the best credit rating in Canada and that my rate was already lower than that.  He asked if it was permanent and I said, "Yes."  He ended the call at that point.  He was polite but people stealing your money tend to be.

I got a call from this number... lately I find, i get alot of marketing calls... I figure that if they can't even say my name properly which is a very easy bilingual name... hang up!

It *might not* be a scam (though I suspect those here who have seen miraculous results with lowering their interest rates are ringers for the company), but it's shady at best.  And against the Canada Do No Call rules for those who are signed up, including myself.  I reported them.

This number shows up on my call display as having called on April 12 at 8:30 p.m.  The caller didn't reach anyone here, and didn't leave a message.  I was just going through the call display records to return calls, and noticed the number; given we've received so many telemarketer and other unwanted calls (despite supposedly signing up -- twice! -- for the "do not call" database), I decided to Google the number after the reverse directory turned up nothing.  

So much for the bullsh*t "do not call" service; we continue to get lots of calls at all hours from scammers and various pests.

I know exactly how to stop them.Go to Canadian tire and purchase an airhorn.
Blow it into phone when they call-they will NOT call back.(probably cause their eardrums are burst)
Looks good on them.

I would like to know why you are calling us if calling why you are not talking. it means you are plan to abuse us.
