These scum-sucking parasites phoned again today (Optima).
My goal is to find out their home phone numbers, and then phone them at approximately the same time they phone me.
(as they say, "turnabout is fair play")
Here's what my e-mails to them said:
1.  Remove my home phone number from your database immediately, and confirm to me that you have completed this action.
2.  I have filed a formal complaint with the CRTC, since you have not provided me with the option of replying to your voicemail and opting out of your parasitic harassment.
3.  I look forward to contacting you at your residence during your leisure time (or better yet, at some disproportionately inconvient time when my phone call will disrupt your life and incovenience you as much as you have done so to me today) to discuss this further.

Although telemarketing calls annoy me too, I'm still a bit of an advocate of call centres.  My personal experience as a phone rep introduced me to the business world and launched my career.  Not to mention, the industry employs thousands, many of which are students who rely on these jobs to pay for school.

In my previous experience in call centres, I routinely added people to the Do Not Call list.  Telesolicitors are required display a contact # in order to provide you the option.

Simply call the number back, 416-581-1076, and leave your name and the number where they contacted you and request your number to be added to the do not call list.

If they are routinely calling and hanging up, it might be worthwhile mentioning what happened and when the call occured.  Clearly, it's not in their interest to be more of a nuissance than is inherent to their business.

The challenge I found was getting an irate message from someone who we were calling on a regular basis but they failed to leave the number and therefor could not be removed from our list.

Got a similar call again today on my unlisted cell#. They left no message.  No Caller ID either.  Such attention is UNwanted!

what the hell why are they calling optima is the name of the company thats calling us

If you search the internet you will find a ton  of complaints and blogs on Optima and Call-Net. (416-581-1076 and 416-915-7933)I responded by emailing both companies and copying the DO NOT CALL folks and ScotiaBank  info@the-cma.org and  mail.president@scotiabank.com.

I did give them my name, town, and phone number but obviously will not post that info here. Anonymous probably won't leave you with much credibility so best to own your response! Think of other cool numbers to give the bank instead of your own..Prison...Another telemarketing Company...Chat lines..I made my changes online and it took literally  afew seconds. Have fun! (FYI-The banks don't NEED your home number. They can call you at work during business hours if it's a legitimate concern. Your home number is used primarily to hussle you for other services.)

Here is my solution.....

"You have called my home repeatedly and I understand from a little internet research that you Optima Marketing and the equally annoying Call-Net Communications say that you are making courtesy calls for ScotiaBank.

I so appreciate Scotiabank's interest in wasting my time this way that I have contacted Scotiabank's service centre to let them know my home phone number has changed and I have given them my ScotiaBank manager's direct line. I'm sure they will appreciate the courtesy hang-ups just as much as I do.

The phone number you are currently calling is now on the CMA Do Not Contact list and you might want to start thinking about honouring it.

Got a call from this # at my business phone. Once answered, they hang up. Very irritating.

I was also getting the calls from 416-581-1076 at our business number. I came accross this website and decided to call Optima Communications. I dialed "0" for the operator, and kindly requested to be removed from their marketing list. The receptionist was very kind and said she would have our number removed from their database.

There are many people on this website voicing their frustration. But really it is wasted energy. Call Optima and ask to be removed from their list....

Of course let's see if I keep getting the calls, and how much longer.....

I keep getting phone calls from this number but they do not leave messages. I would like to be removed from their calling list.

They are getting the phone numbers from the clients who hire them.   So for example if you are getting calls from someone saying they are from scotia bank then the client is scotia bank.    The client would also have told them what to say and do on the call.  

To a call center its a numbers game.   an agent will call 300-400 numbers and maybe get 1-3 sales in a day.   Its the 1-3 sales that count and not the people who hang up or say they aren't interested.   The clients dont care they know people will be ticked off.   The agents just usually laugh and move on to the next number, unless its someone who has morals and quits.   And the reason they are so pushy is because its all hard selling.  They are told if they dont get any sales they lose their job.  So they do everything they can to get a sale.

Optima communication scums... i got phone call from them and called them and left message on their voicemail asking them to remove my number. Lets see what happens.

Calls everyday and doesnt leave a message. I have never answered their calls as I didnt recognize the area code. I just reported them to the government

I definitely agree with CW (above). You can be stern in your complaint but no need to act like a child by swearing. Hey, everyone is tring to make a living in this crazy world! So, write you letter or call the supervisor/manager and tell them you want to be taken off their list. If that doesn't work call Bell and make a complaint about this number.

We r all adults but these compagnies always are rude insulting demeaning to us ....dont make me believe you would still keep your cool ...not ,keep being nice to them and they will still make your life miserable

The lady who spoke to me knew my first and last name and which bank I am a customer of. She pressured me into signing a death insurance contract. She refused to share her employee number or send me a written document detailing exactly the so-called "offer" policy. This was probably a phishing attempt so I refused to give any information and reported the phone call to my bank.

No message left , but calls a lot.
