I think a class action is the next step.  Have you filed a complaint against them on the do not call list?  I have - you should too.

The FTC put out an article in our newspaper this week stating they have had 4 million calls from people complaining about these invasion of privacy calls!!!...they are offering a $50,000 cash award to anyone who can come up with a complete solution to get rid of these callers...if you have a great idea that you think might work and want to earn the $50,000, go for it...I'm not that intelligent:(  I not only receive calls from 4178002317, but have started making a list and so far since 10/10/12, I have had 17 calls from all different callers...we don't answer them and they don't leave messages.  Hope someone with a creative mind can come up with a $50,000 solution...GOOD LUCK!!  Sick and tired in Albuquerque, NM

A person calliing herself Rachael calls at least 3 or 4 times per week saying there is nothing wrong with my credit card - they just want to talk to me about lowering the interest rate.  Instructions were to press 3 if we no longer want calls.

CDA LAW CENTER RESPONSE:   We are a law firm in Califonia that practices in the area of foreclosure defense and employment law. We make no outbound calls unless a client reaches out to us first to intiate a contact.  We only call to follow-up on a specific request for information.  We only do business in California, and are based in Orange County California.  As such, we do not have anything to do with this 417- number that derives from Missouri. Elizabeth H. needs to request the information she posted be removed or face possible litigation for defamation and slander.  Any of you reading this, move on, as she got it wrong!

Based on this thread, it is likely a call from either a Credit Card Company, Debt Settlement, or Consumer Credit Counseling service. We do not do business in any of these areas.  Regardless, these calls have nothing to do with CDA Law Center, and we are in contact with the Orange County District Attorney regaring this matter and about "Elizabeth H."  If Elizabeth would like to reach us, she can call me as she obviously has our number.  Our hope is she will rectify her mistake and remove her Post, to avoid this becoming an issue. The OC District Attorney will be calling you Elizabeth to follow-up and to address your baseless complaints.

Just as a word of advice to you following this thread: Most telemarketers and even robo-dialers comply with DNC opt-out requests. All businesses are required to as well. Our firm for example has software that in which we will enter people onto our supression list who request it, that automatically scrubs their contact info, even if they opt-in again with us years from now.  We fully comply with all DNC opt-out requests. If you are receiving automated calls, listen to the message as it may give you an opportunity to opt-out as well.  If you are being called by a telemarketer, ask them about their internal supression list and request to be placed on their internal DNC list. They have 10 days to comply.  Further, if you fill out a form online, you may be opting-in via the privacy policy to be marketed too by third parties.  Most financial institutions or large corporations rent out their lists of consumers, and if you do not complete the opt-out form they send you every year, you are agreeing to be marketed to by any number of third parties.  I suspect many of you are receiving calls because you have not educated yourself about the circumstances I described above or about the Safe Harbor provision of the DNC, that allows for a 90 day waiver of your DNC rights when you opt-in either online or offline, through your actions or inaction.

Guy, I get same phone calls from 417-800-2317. I never pick up but I did call them.
They said if you want a rep hit 1 if you want off list hit 2. I just called up Optimum.

Their robo-call began before the "beep" on my machine so only the tail end was captured. Something about pressing "1" right now to take advantage of something.

All my financial institutions contact me by secure e-mail, so any "card services" or whatever must be a complete scam. Don't press "1." It only encourages them.

Obvious fishing scam call.  I pressed a number to get a live person.  I  asked if they were some sort of scam and what the name of the company was.  Lady took offense and told me I should look at my next credit report because she was going to wreck my credit.  Going to have my whistle next to the phone for when she calls next.

Called my cell phone. I did not answer. On do not call list, but I think that means nothing anymore. Government bent on protecting us from so-call terrorist but cannot protect us from these marketing scams.

Beware!  This scammer's agents neither mentions their own names nor the the name of the "company" that employs

them. They are preying on people who are not observant enough to catch his.  Unfortunately,  only those who are observent would google this and end up on this page.  I will document my experience and hopefully it will help someone.

Here is how they contacted me...

An automated dialing system dialed my phone number (which is listed on the national do not call registry).  The

recording said, "hello, this is "card services."  You are eligible to lower your interest rates to 4.9%.  Please

press 1 to be connected to an account representative.  

When I pressed one, I was connected with a woman who neither identified herself nor the company who employs her.  

Instead, she immediately asked "are you interested in lowering your interest rates."  To this, I responded, "I

would like to know the name of the company you work for."  She immediately hung up.

I called back.  Below I transcribed the entire recording from their phone system including the options they list...

"Welcome to OUR customer communications management platform.
It is likely that you have been contacted by one of OUR representatives and are calling back for additional

information or to request that we refrain from calling you in the future.

Please listen to the following prompts and select the information that best meets your needs.

if you would like to be connected to one of OUR customer service representatives, please press 1 NOW!

if you would like to have your telephone phone number put into our do not call database, please press 2 NOW!

if you would like to leave a voice message, please press 3 now, and it will be delivered to our customer care

department.

If you would like to report your concerns regarding our marketing practices or to provide your comments to the

regulatory agency which governs our industry, please press 4 NOW!

If you would like to hear these selections again, please press 9

When you press 9, the system says that "This selection is not valid" and then repeats the options.

If you let the message continue without pressing an option, it repeats in a computerized woman's voice with a slightly different script.  Her script mentions in option four that you can call 888-382-1222.  I googled this number, and it is the official number of the National Do Not Call Registry as listed on https://www.donotcall.gov.

If you press 1, music plays for a second and a recording says "We are sorry, but all agents are currently unavailable. Please leave a message after the tone."

I called back in several times and pressed 1.  I got the same result each time.

Dear elderly widow, please do not talk to them.  This/They are a SCAM.   I'm sure your daughter will tell you the same thing.  They prey on the elderly and many others hopeing that someone  will fall for their SCAM.
PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL.  ALWAYS HANG UP AND TALK TO YOUR DAUGHTER ABOUT THIS.

Caller ID is CARD SERVICES.  I didn't answer, but the message they left had something to do with changing interest rates related to some stimulus.  Scam.

With all these complaints why doesn't the govt shut them down?  I get 2-3 calls from this credit card company too on my business line which none of my credit card companies actually have!

Really, defamation and slander?  That's a pretty higher bar of proof,  Nevertheless, people may want to check the Better Business Bureau's assessment of CDA, maybe you can sue them.  Here's the link:

People are responding with #s outside of the CDA Law Center business area because the #s are spoofed/falsified. We receive a call showing a fake caller ID which then after answering gives a recorded message about loan modifications. If you try to get a live person you recieve another recording asking for your name and number. Regardless of the number one gives  CDA Law Center will call back the# the machine originally called. I did not give a true name and requested they call a different #. There was no consent for them to call me back at my home #. They called back to my home # and asked for the falsified name given. This time the caller ID shows the correct phone # which I had called back to confirm the caller. The person that answered confirmed he was the person I had  just spoken to and remembered my voice.

There are plenty of complaints regarding CDA Law Centers making these calls and the service offered matches those offered on the company website.

Not sure if a Class Action suit would work but this company can be overwhelmed with small claims law suits. If you have enough to pursue the company they can be sued each time for $500. If the court finds that they knew they were employing illegal sales tactics they can choose to award up to 3 times that amount. Can you imagine if they had to keep going to small claims for each call they made? I think it would be more damaging that they have to pay someone to be in court almost constantly and also keep writing those checks?

I am researching more information to take forward. They can not prove that they had a working relationship with me because they initiated the call that they recorded by illegal means. Not only that they didn't call the number requested and asked for someone that does not live in our residence.

Their sister sleazeball scam is calling from 417-800-2330 with such a deal on prescriptions drugs!!!

Caller ID displays OCC ECHOSYSTE and is likely a spoofed name.  It supposedly originates from Nevada, MO and has been part of an FTC investigation since 2008!!!

The nonsense from Elizabeth H is obviously some separate thing she may have against The CDA Law Center in CA.  It could be a seaparate scam with Bill Baskin, or whomever he really is, chiming in with his bull legalise and not so veiled threats on her.
