Got a call as well earlier today.

Knew after a few minutes it was a scam but played along and with a bit to see how they worked. I mentioned I wanted a job and he said he could forward my CV to his supervisor. Also said he helped thousands of customers a month with this, which is very worrisome.
With some flirting got the following name and info.

Their website is http://www.globalinfosols.net and they try to make you download a program from the website pccarecheckup.webs.com (to check your computer) which is malware in itself and not to mention HOSTED ON A FREE WEBHOST (webs.com). So many red flags.

Ook ik ben gisteren gebeld door deze club. Na aanhoudend bellen toch opgenomen. Uiteindelijk helaas toch ingetrapt en €153 lichter voor deze zgn. Service. Betaald met Visa en waarschijnlijk hebben ze alle gegevens kunnen achterhalen aangezien ze mijn pc hebben overgenomen en een halfuur hebben zitten klooien. Kan niet beoordelen wat de schade op dit moment is...

Gelukkig visakaart reeds laten blokkeren en geen andere bedragen zijn afgeschreven.
Inmiddels heb ik ook al melding gemaakt op fraudehelpdesk.nl
Ik kan er niet overuit dat ik zo oliedom ben geweest...trap er niet in!!

That is worrying, I am afraid I messed up a bit, i got a call today too. they showed me all these errors that were active on my computer, being a computer noob myself, i fell for it to some extent, but when they asked me for the payment i said i will have to call them back. I did however download the program you just mentioned (pccarecheckup.webs.com). Do you know what I should do to remove this program? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ik werd zonet gebeld door iemand, van het bedrijf Global Infosols, dat mijn laptop foutmeldingen aan hun doorgaf.
Ik heb een laptop, en ik heb de laatste tijd inderdaad heel veel foutmeldingen, regelmatig "blue screen" en "critical errors", dus ik geloofde het wel.
Hij zei dat hij kon laten zien dat er iets heel erg fout was met mijn computer. Er ging een belletje rinkelen, ik dacht: niemand kan iets laten zien op mijn computer, behalve een hacker. Ik heb dus mijn laptop opgestard, ik moest de "windows-key + R" gebruiken (je komt dan in Run a program) vervolgens moest ik "CMD" intypen, en op <ENTER> drukken. Er gingen nog meer belletjes rinkelen, omdat ik weet dat je met CMD je hele computer [***] vernielen, door alleen al "format C:" als comando te geven.
Ik moest als commando "assoc" intypen, ik vertrouwde het niet.
Ik vroeg maar even voor wat voor bedrijf hij werkte, hij wou me naar zijn website sturen, die kon ik niet vinden, dus ik vroeg: "Can I find your web-page on google?" en hij: "No! Don't use google!". Juist daarom gezocht. Toen zag ik: "Ik ben erin getrapt" van deze website. "Bye bye..."

Ook ik werd gebeld. Mijn comp. zou 98,87% besmet zijn met zg. hidden threats. Van alles doorlopen met deze dame en vervolgens haar Senior Manager aan de lijn gekregen. Nogmaals een korte uitleg en daarna leidde hij me naar de website en daar kon ik mijn info invullen en voor 195 euro aan security kopen zodat mijn comp. voor jaren veilig zou zijn. Dat geld had ik op dat moment niet op de bank en ik bezit geen creditcard, Dat tegen deze men gezegd en hij vroeg hoeveel ik dan wel te spenderen had, dan kon hij overleggen met zijn leidinggevende om een oplossing te bedenken. Ik zei 0 euro te hebben. Volgens hem nam ik mijn comp. niet serieus. Wat denkt hij nou, dat ik zomaar even geld overmaak aan de eerste de beste die mij beldt?

Uitkijken dus en niet doen!

This same telephone number 0014259053074 just called me this morning, 9 January, 2013.  I actually thought it's coming from a family member based in the US.  I heard an Indian accent English speaking lad so I already thought she's calling from a callcenter.  I asked her location just to confirm where she's calling from.  She said UK...gotcha!!!  001- is a US code.  I also insistently asked her which company she is working for but she told me no exact company name (telemarketer) but she said she works as networking IT support from Microsoft.  First,  I asked her if the call is for free and I don't have to pay anything in return.  She said NO!  So I let her talk and talk and talk just to know what she's up to. It's exactly the same story (take note also with the same exact words!!!)  as what I've read from the other comments!  I kept on reconfirming if I do not have to pay for something.  She kept on saying the call is for free.  Finally, I asked her what I need to do just to see what's going to happen.  She said go to the website www.pccarecheckup.webs.com.....ooooops no! This is a SCAM! I didn't even bother go to this website!

This scammers are still active!!!

Ook ik heb vandaag zo'n klojo aan de lijn gehad. Inderdaad een uur lang slap gezever over gevaren in mijn PC die de zaak zouden kunnen laten crashen. Een uur lang door mijn PC gegaan met die gast en vervolgens kreeg ik zijn Supervisor die me een duur pakket wilde aansmeren.Die liet ik weten dat ik geen interesse had en zogenaamd geen geld had voor die onzin en na een paar keer dit gezegd te hebben, hing hij ineens op.

Dit zijn internetcriminelen die aangepakt moeten worden!!!!!!

Got called today and was taken through the process as described by many others.  Lots of surrounding noise from the scum belabouring other innocent people by phone, three hierarchy-levels of 'expertise'. All have fat Indian accent, and the top dog, who could hardly restrain his anger when I failed to immediately hand him over my money and said I'd call him, said his name. was Ricky (!). This time the number was 44-808-189-1327.
P.S. Pay heed, though: there is an Indian company called Global Infosol (www.globalinfosol.com), and what these [***] did was added an 's' to the name and made a website www.globalinfosols.net), so don't confuse the two.
P.P.S. I'm, like many others here, from the Netherlands, my provider is Tele2, so the scum must have hacked into or otherwise stolen their clients data bank.

Computer Software Service frauds

From bogus ‘Computer Software Tech Support’ phone calls, e.g. someone from Microsoft or Apple contacting you and telling you there is a problem with your device, to fraudsters asking for credit card information to ‘validate your software’, e.g. validate your windows software, there are a number of computer software service scams you need to look out for.

Fraudsters often use the names of well-known companies to commit their crime, as it makes their communication with you seem more legitimate. This is why it’s important to think twice before giving out any personal information.

Common scams that use the brand names include:

receiving a phone call from ‘Microsoft Tech Support’ to fix your computer.
receiving unsolicited emails with attached security updates.
being asked for your credit card information to ‘validate your copy of Windows’.
being told you have won the ‘Microsoft Lottery’.
Computer firms warn that they do not send unsolicited emails or make unsolicited phone calls to request personal or financial information, or to fix your computer. They advise anyone who receives such communication to delete the email or hang up the phone.  If further assurance is needed individuals can contact the firm directly using the phone numbers obtained from their contract or other trusted sources.

Anyone who has lost money to a scam like this should report it to Action Fraud.

Advice to avoid Computer Software Service scams

Computer firms do not make unsolicited phone calls to help you fix your computer. Fraudsters make these phone calls to try to steal from you and damage your computer with malware. Treat all unsolicited phone calls with scepticism and don’t give out any personal information.
Computer firms tend  not to send out unsolicited communication about security updates, although they do send security software updates to subscribers of the security communications program. If in doubt, don’t open the email.
Microsoft does not request credit card information to validate copies of Windows. Microsoft does validate requests to download software from its website via its ‘Genuine Advantage Program’, but never asks for any personally identifying information, including credit card details.
The ‘Microsoft Lottery’ does not exist –so it’s not true if you’re told you’ve won.

Deze mensen zijn oplichters! Ze bellen je op en zeggen van Microsoft te zijn en vragen je software te installeren en geld over te maken. Niet doen!!!!!! Mijn vader was door ze gebeld en is er helaas ingetrapt. Ik heb de ING gebeld en die zeiden dat deze groep de laatste tijd veel mensen belt en oplicht. Niet op ingaan!!!!

Zelfde recept, telefoon vanuit 'London - Lickaster', maar het nummer was 0014259053074. Dame (naam niet verstaan) met sterk Indiaas accent. Niet op ingegaan.

Hier hetzelfde. Ik vroeg of ze even wilde wachten zodat ik mijn computer aan kon zetten (stond al aan, maar ik wilde tijd om ze te Googlen, zodoende kwam ik hier op de site). Ik werd in de wacht gezet zodat zij iemand anders op kon lichten, en toen heb ik de verbinding verbroken. Ik heb echt 6 keer gevraagd of ze de naam van het bedrijf wilde geven maar ik kon het maar lastig verstaan. Ik probeerde ook 'slimme' vragen te stellen, en het was duidelijk dat ze daar niets van begreep (overigens heb ik een Mac, haha). Ben blij dat ik even heb gegoogled en hier terecht kwam. Was al sceptisch, maar toch. Ben benieuwd of ik deze dame nog een keer aan de lijn krijg :/ Ik ga er in ieder geval niet op in!

Vandaag gebeld, zelfde verhaal als hierboven. Op internet checkte ik het bedrijf tijdens het bellen. Ik kwam meteen op deze site... Het was vervolgens nog een klus om van de man af te komen. "You tell me that you don't trust me?" Uiteindelijk maar opgehangen.

Everything else was exactly the same. the website they wanted me to go to is also http://pccarecheckup.webs.com. Bells started ringing because I happen to have a free website there as well and I know that no legit company has a free website. The software is legit, they only use it for their scams. Watch out people!

Ik werd vandaag gebeld door deze club. Ze hebben een uitgekookt protocol en ter ondersteuning is er een druk kantoorgeluid oip de achtergrond. Als je goed oplet, zul je horen dat dat geluid steeds wordt herhaald: een opname dus! Na diverse geruststellingen word je gevraagd een site te openen vanuit de command box van Windows. Voor zover ik weet is je pc dan niet meer (volledig ?) beschermd. In lk geval nooit de link aanklikken, want dan nemen ze je pc over! Hun site is:

Daar staat een gebrekkig Windows-logo. Dat alleen al is zeer verdacht; verder lijkt het zeer betrouwbaar.

Helaas zijn mijn vrouw en ik hierin getrapt. We werden vanochtend gebeld door een Engels sprekende man met een Indiaas accent en later nam een manager, genaamd Ricky Ryan het gesprek over. We hebben ingestemd om onze laptop op afstand te laten nakijken door hun bedrijf: Global Infosols. We hebben 248 euro betaald voor 'Patch and Upgrade Support' en 'Security Management'. Nu zagen we op internetbankieren dat er 288 euro is afgeschreven, dus zelfs nog meer dan de bedoeling was...

Nu maar meteen naar de PC-dokter om onze laptop opnieuw te laten installeren.
Nooit gedacht dat ik hier in zou trappen.
