- Caller: No company name was given
- MKLI got a call from this number for someone not in the home... I called the number back - person was rude and hung up. I asked what the business was and they would not say - i called three times total - I think it is a collection agency fishing for info - i told them the person did not live at that phone number and to not call again.
- Caller: Did not say, and would not give up
- J74| 4 repliesI got a call from an unknown # with a woman leaving a message with a case #. I called this 443 number and a man answered and said I have an unpaid online loan from 2011! I paid those loans off immediately. They have found his info somehow and are trying to swindle us. Same thing I'll be served papers between 3 & 5 pm today. I had this same call from someone 5 months ago with the same threat and no one showed up. I called back this man and he would not give me any information about his company and was very defensive telling me their web site is under construction. We have a right to know who's calling us and if it was a legit company they would give info. He hung up on me twice when I was telling him about the same phone call months ago. When they don't give info......... And they are asking for OUR personal info!!!! Sorry but I have had debt collectors call me in the past and the legit ones will GIVE you all their info and they are thick skinned enough that when people yell at them they keep the same monotone voice! They do t hang up on you. Please reply if you agree so other innocent people don't get caught up.
Jodi - J74 replies to J74Also, these try to make you feel guilty. So don't buy into it!
- MrsNastySome family members have received a similar call regarding me and today at work I got a call from an unknown number stating that I was going to be served with papers tomorrow unless I called 443-205-4666 back regarding my case number. I have no papers that could possibly be served to me. When they called my fiancee they said I was being investigated for Fraud. HA! Funny. Then they went so far to tell him that I had taken out an online loan from Peak 3 and never paid it back. While I did take out a loan from them several years ago, I am CERTAIN it was paid back, as it was tied directly to my checking account. They gave him tons of information about me - which he found suspicious because why would a "reputable" collection agency disclose personal information to a 3rd party? They wouldn't!! I don't know who these bozos are but they are clearly trying to scam me... I got news for them. NOT HAPPENING!
- MrsNasty replies to J74| 1 replyYES! Same thing is happening to me... these people need to be reported. I went to http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/#debt-collection and filed a complaint - you should do the same! ;) Good luck!
- J74 replies to MrsNastyThank u for posting that web site! 😄👍
- beentheredonethat2I have received many of these over the past few years. do you want to know how many people have shown up with "papers" None. If it is a legitimate claim, they are required to provide you with information. The calls from this person (a woman, she's not using Angie when she calls me, but a different name, but that's unimportant) state that if she can't find me at home, she'll come to my place of work. That's illegal. Also, it's to "notify you" by phone is not accepted; they must also mail you papers. If you 1) haven't received any notification in the mail 2) If they tell you by the phone call "you've been notified" and 3) If you are inclined to the call the number (I won't, because it is either just to get some information about me or there are some weird phone things: when you call, you make them money.. not sure how that works, but my husband read something about it) AND they won't give you information, you know they are just trying to scam you. Don't return their calls, don't be waiting at home for them to show up, they aren't going to.. Call your county courthouse and give them that file number,, they'll tell you that is not the filing they use on documents.
- beentheredonethat2 replies to J74Yes, they have hacked us somehow, know we had loans in the past and are trying to scare us into either giving them $ or information so they can get into bank accounts. Don't fall for it. Yes, if they are legit, they will give you info. If they are legit, they aren't likely to be giving you an ultimatum that you must pay RIGHT NOW. If they aren't going to provide the business to whom you supposedly own this money, then you know it's a scam. I had one bozo actually give me the name of a company I had done business with, so I told the loser that I'll check with them. He then began swearing and threatening me physically (was going to come rape me, and the like)...Yes, I totally think your legitimate now! NOT!!!! They are relentless, but I ignore them. Plus, I always look up the number they give, 99% of the time,, you can find a post about how they are not legit. Don't fall for their tricks.
- not gonna get scammed| 1 replyScam needs to be an option on type of call. I got a long drawn out message about getting served (happens every few months after relentless calls that I need to call immediately regarding a financial issue, yeah I'll get right on that bud, if I owed you money I'm sure I'd be getting bills in the mail) Anywho I must be home tomorrow betwee 3-5 as a process server from my county will make several attempts to reach me during those hours, but if they cant find me they will go to my work. Ya know I know people who have been served for stuff before & not once did anyone call & warn you. These people are predators & sadly some people fall for it.
- not gonna get scammedWell what do you know even after Thursdays call telling me I'd be served at my residence between3-5 & even got a last ditch call Friday morning warning me I need to call or I'd be served "today" yet no one showed. Hmmm maybe they got lost. Lol
- Caller: scammer
- These PPL Wont Leave Me Alone replies to not gonna get scammedI just got this call today.... They called my husband and my sister and left a VM with the same threat on my phone.
