I received a verification number for OKEx from this number but I’m not sure if it is OKEx

Note: It has been suggested this is a harmless "verification bot", and if you signed up to be sent a a code, go ahead and "use this code as verification...in the app or website that sent you this code."  And if it wasn't you that supplied your phone number for this step, don't worry, ignore that text.

None of that is reassuring to me. Posts here are from various places and suggest that various apps or games are implicated in this sending of "verification codes."  And why would people be getting codes out of the blue?  Most legit apps and sites that require a verification step using a code, the user is advised about verification and are VERY clear about that step - telling users to expect that code.

There are scams that send out vague texts and phony codes in hope that victims will blindly follow links. That is one way of doing advertising, phishing or to even install malware in users devices. Ugly stuff.

It is possible that the number being cited is "legit" AND is also being spoofed. I would advise people to be careful about these codes and any links. I just can't blindly trust this number or a poster who might be shilling.
