The Social Security Administration could be linked to this number, but regardless, consumer beware. I could still be wrong. I dialed the 1-800 number, and they gave me the option to set up a call back. I did, and I didn't answer at first. I wanted to be sure. So I looked up the number here.

I received a call on a Saturday from that number.  The individual identified himself as Eugene Doherty from social security and ask that I call 855-369-5447 ext 5061 by this Friday.  I tried calling SSA to verify but you can't get a real person on the line.  I filed a report with their OIG.

This is not SS calling, this is a scam.  If you are registered with Social Security on the web, sign in and see if they left you any messages. I think you will find they have not be trying to reach you.  Their preferred contact is US and then email.

This number robo-called us twice on Tues., Dec. 10th,2019, , stating to press 1 if we still wanted a callback, or 3 if we no longer wanted one.  The male robocaller never gave his name or the name of his business or company.  Caller ID had no identifying information other than the incoming call number.
Government employees and legitimate businesses always will identify themselves.  If you request a call back fro Social Security, the voice Mail answering service SSA uses will ask you to state your name.  They advise that if it’s really social security calling, you’ll hear your name, in your own voice, which verifies Social Security is actually calling you back.  They have many reports of phishing scams occurring now.
Beware!  The scammers may even have your SS number, name, and cell phone number.  The ones calling our home are asking for our check routing numbers.  We did not give them out.  One caller even appeared as Social Security Administration on the caller ID.  Be advised, SSA will never, ever, ask for your ID information in an incoming call, so do not verify it or give anything out to such callers - no matter what it says on your caller ID.

I answered a call from this number and it was a SS representative confirming that the online SS application I had submitted would be approved and benefits would begin the next month. I asked about a pengding medicare quarterly payment and the rep instructed me to "short pay" since future payments would be deducted from SS. She then accessed my Medicare info, made a calculation that prorated a rate increase over several prior montha and told me the amount I should pay. If you receive a call from this number, answer it! But, as always, be cautions unless and until the other end can demonstrate they are legitimate.

This is a number with a Social Security Administration Call center.  I called the 1-800 number on a letter I received from SSA. There was a long wait before a representative would pick up, so I chose to have SSA call me back. the Call Back came from this number

I believe it is a number used by social security for call-backs to people who don't want to have long "wait times" on their phones.  It seemed so to me, though I was cautious until I became more confident about its legitimacy.

Received a return call from SS. Initiated a call to them asking for a call back. IT was SS. So this is them returning your call. When you asK to be called back ,you speak your name and when called  they identify it as SS and you hear your own name in your voice to confirm it is their call.

I recently had my drivers license and medical card stolen by a major medical facilities employee. The police are still investigating. Today I got a call from this number and they spoke a different language I do not understand. I hung up. I believe now my identity has been compromised.
