Tired of receiving calles from this number....I no longer answer my phone...just keep it off the hook all the time....so why have a phone I ask?

Got a few calls within 24 hours and finally answered hoping to stop the calls. Woman calling looking for support for Barak Obama. When she asked how I was I told her I was sleeping (I work graveyard) and she kept talking. Finally I said "Mam, you just woke me up." She said "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know that," and kept right on talking about why I should vote for Obama. Sorry, apparently the word sleeping was too hard for her to understand. I finally hung up because she just kept talking, ignoring my request to not be called again.

It's the Republican Party trying to [***] democrats so that they vote republican.

Called cell several times over a period of days while I was at work.  I finally was able to answer on Saturday.  They asked if they could count on my vote for Merkley and Obama.  I said absolutely not--I've already voted.  They asked if I had decided who I was voting for.

I certainly hope I know who I'm voting, as I've already voted.  What part of "Already Voted" don't they get?

They've called me several times in the last few days with no one on the other end.  The most recent time I stayed on the line until they hung up after 40 seconds.

Same number same M.O. as the other people who got no answer machine message (I screen all unrecognized calls.)  Calls every day.

Don't believe the Merkley attribution, it's just as likely to be some crank  trying to defame the Merkley campaign - there's no real evidence here as to the actual caller.

So far as I can see faking a caller id in this way is illegal (fraud) - they can always use 'private' if they don't want to be known.  The caller number is transmitted by the originating 'phone company, therefore the number cannot be disconnected as the same company (apparently Qwest) report.

Possibilities: 1) Ring your local company, they won't know who it is unless it's actually *private* (they look the number up in the directory to get the name, private numbers are in that directory.)

2) Ring Qwest in Portland and demand they stop this - it really is their responsibility.

Chances are it is some company with a T1 line faking the ID, Qwest knows who it is, Qwest can stop them.

Time for an Oregon PUC action, funded by a tax on numbers with user controlled caller id (T1 lines only?) to ensure caller ID is always valid.

I have been getting phone calls from 503-295-1276 several times a day for the last week or two. I too get just silence, and when I call back it says its disconnected. I think before these calls started someone called from Merkley's campaign and I told them he was a douche, and burn in hell. It may have been from the same number, I didn't pay much attention. I'm registered Dem, but didn't vote for any Dems this year! Obama is a flag burner, and Merkley is a douche. Some prick from the Merkley campaign stuck a huge Merkley sign in my yard while I was gone. I had to call and rip them a new one.

This site shows the number as being registered to Campaign to Elect Merkley and Obama. I called qwest (800)833-0825, they passed the buck to their nuisance call complaint system, which was lots of voicejail, and finally a msg to call back during business hours.

I got the same phone call and I talked with the caller at length and thought she was sincere enough that it really was the Merkley campaign.

However, I recieved an e-mail the next morning from Kari Chisolm of Blueoregon.com who checked into this. Turns out that it is NOT Merkley or Obama. He doesn't know who it is.

If you voted for McCain or Gordo Smith because of this call, consider yourself mind-f*cked by a Republican Party/Karl Rove-ian dirty tricks campaign.

God I'm glad I left the Republican Party two decades ago.
