Gee Gene, Do you work for them?  In case you have not figured this out yet, these are Zombie debt Collectors, or more accurately, Debt investors, bottom feeders that are looking to make a buck by putting a gamble on weather or not they can scare people into paying debt that has either never existed, or was paid, and then trying to get the person to re-pay by threatening there credit history.

I feel sorry for you Gene.  Apparently you have no idea what the difference between what is right, and what is wrong.

Grow up Gene, and next time, keep your mouth shut until you take the 3 seconds of time it takes to actually find out what is going on.

That way, you won't come off as a bullying moron...Oh yeah, I forgot that you work for them.  I guess you are one.

Oh, and PS... Hope this helps.

Got a call from this number. I have a collections debt for $100.00 (silly, I know) from a LOCAL debt collector. (I live in the Seattle area and have already spoken w. these people). I actually know someone who used to work for the agency handling my collections and they DO NOT sell info or escalate to other collections agencies. So I pretty much know this is in no way a truly legit operation.

I'm changing my number soon anyway, so I don't really care how many calls I get from them.

I got a call on my cell from this number and sent it to voice mail.  I called back asking what the company was and the guy wouldn't give me any info until I gave him my last name or reference number.  He said he owned the company and his name is PAUL GUNN.  I have no debt out there and am paid up on everything.  I told him I would not give him info until he told me what the company did or what CBA stood for and he wouldn't.  If this company was legit... they would give some kind of information on why they were calling, not just an acronym of CBA.
You don't have to give them ANY information on yourself until they answer questions!!

I work for CBA and have to say, most of you sound really silly.  CBA is a legit collection company and a pretty good one at that.  CBA does NOT buy debt.  they are licensed in almost all 50 states and collect for some of the bigger companies around the country.  I can also tell you that Paul Gunn does NOT own CBA, nor have I ever heard of Paul Gunn.  So, Paul Gunn could very well be a scam artist.  And I have no idea how you connected the two.  If you really have no debt, the best thing to do is talk to CBA.  You can ask for proof of your bill and if it is not yours you can have it removed.  Simple as that.  Sometimes our clients send bad data to us and we have to deal with it.  But, it is easy to fix if you just talk to us.  Again CBA is a legit company, and if there is a mistake, they can help you to clear that up.

The collection agency that was handling your account may not sell or escalate, but the company you actually owe the money to will recall the account and give it to another company to try.  I know they often send to three different companies one after the other.  I assure you, the company CBA is real and your debt is real.  The only way to stop CBA and other collection agencies from calling you is to talk to them and stop hiding.  You can tell them to stop calling you and they will.  even if you don't settle the bill.  You will still owe the bill and if they do send the account to a different collection agency they may start calling again. But you can simply ask them to stop calling.  Even if you change your phone number.  Collection agencies use services that update phone records on a daily basis.  If it is not your bill, it is usually quite simple to prove that, and they will stop calling.
