It's a call from Newton prison. I don't wish to get any calls from the abuser so I just ignore the number and eventually he will give up. I had a nice three year break from the calls but he started again this past week.

It is a prison inmate trying to call you. It is a pre-paid call that the inmate pays for. When you answer, there is a recording that asks you to accept the call at no charge to you. You press a certain number on your phone to accept the call. There is also an option to block the inmate from calling your number...you can use that to stop the call attempts if you'd like, rather than just ignoring them & having numerous attempts made.

If you answer, itll startba recording, something like "you have received a call from, ________, inmate at _____ jail/prison. If yiu would like to accept this free call, press ___ if you would like to decline this call press ____. If you would like to block all future calls fron this inmste, press ___." They are in fact free, and also recorded. But you know who is calling you before you talk to them, and they don't know if you answer, decline, block, or ignore the call. The inmate just hears elevator music. Just a FYI

Not just THAT prison. It's a general number for calls from inmates in many different prisons. As a matter of fact I used to get calls from my ex-boyfriend's counselor that appeared withba general prison number.

If it is a collect call it will say so. You have the option of accepting it, declining it, blocking the number. But first you have to set up an account while they wait. I know I can't accept calls on my cell phone. If it's a free call, it will say that before you are connected. Again you have the option of accepting, declining or blocking.
