Calling repeatedly.

Calling back results in a pre-recorded French message.

Using Babelfish, it seems to say:
"hello you will be put of connection with your correspondents     thank you for patience      a few moments please     some seconds more thank you" and then the DISCONNECTED beeps will follow

Most annoying and should be blocked if possible

The same thing is happening to me and it is so frustrating.  Then this morning at 5AM it called me again and a man said Hello and my name and I said yes and he said sorry wrong number and hung up on me!  I called back right after and got the French recording again. I am going to block this number.  It is like having a stalker.

This call identified himself as from the Edmonton sun.  I have an unlisted number, and he asked for me by name.  I asked where he got it from, he said he is in a call center that is contracted through the Edmonton Sun - and they get the numbers and names from them.  I have never had a paper through them - so the Edmonton Sun is doing something very illegal by getting private/unlisted numbers.  Someone is selling our lists - possibly Telus?

The same as Alberton, this caller is insistent up to twice per day. Locking into a mobile system it will call no matter where you are in the world. This can get expensive when roaming. This person needs to be shut down.

I am getting the same thing here in Nova Scotia..on my pay and go cell phone thru Telus...8 times in the last 3 days...twice while driving...since it is illegal here to use a handheld cell while driving..it can be very annoying pulling over to see that it is a telemarketer..

This number keep scalling my home # in Nova Scotia and I've never had a person come on but that's probably b/c I don't hang on long.  It is very frustrating and seems very pointless.  Points above seem to hint that it could be a telephone service provider in an attempt to maybe increase minutes used on a cell phone.  Since it's happening to me at home, I'm confused why they would continue wasting resouces to call me for no apparent reason.  Maybe it's a system glich of some sort but the comment above mentioning they got a man is also confusing to me.  Either way it's very frustrating to keep tending to the phone only to see it's just this same old number again.

I'm in Nova Scotia Too ... 5 times in the last 2 days .. very annoying ... especially when it calls when I am putting my kids to bed

im in nova scotia too, and these numbers keep calling my cell phone and then hanging up when i answer (im with Rogers).  However, they also happened to call my boyfriends house the other day, and when he answered, it turned out to be the chronicle herald trying to sell us a subscription to their paper.  Variations of this number have called me dozens of times in the last few weeks....mostly during the daytime when im at work.  anyone know how to stop them??

Wow, this is ridiculous. Nova Scotia here too. I am also getting repeated calls from variations of this number. I usually just ignore them but any time I have answered they have hung up in my ear.

I am also in Nova Scotia with Rogers and I get calls from this number and 519-340-0112 both with the same result.  After an internet search, it seems as though these calls are newspaper related.  I called the Chronicle Herald (I used to have a subsription with them) and they confirmed that they use telemarketers to sell subscriptions.

I have called Patricia, a manager at the Herald at 426-2811 ext. 1160 to have them removed but no luck thus far.  Perhaps a letter to the editor might help.

UPDATE:

I did some searching and I found a company in Kitchener/Waterloo that has been hired by the Chronicle Herald to sell newspaper subscriptions.  I called and they did indicated that they have contracts with newspapers across the country.  I asked if I could be removed from the list and I was told that they follow CRTC regulations.  I gave them my number and they said that it may take 30 days for the request to go through.  They may well be jerking me around but I will have to wait and see for sure.

I am in Halifax, Nova Scoita. This number came up on our phone at 12:40 AM. Enough already.

I am phoning the Chronicle Herald tomorrow and launching a complaint. This is beyond the normal calling times permitted by call centres I am sure. I really feel the government of Canada needs to stop putting tax payers dollars into call centres so they can phone us at so often and at such rediculous hours.

Both my parents are in their 70's and let me tell you that a phone ringing at 20 minutes to one in the morning is not something I am relaxed about at all.

These people have called me in NS at 9 times in the past 24 hours including 2:00 & 4:00 in the morning today. There is never anyone at the end of the line. REALLY annoying.

Yesterday, I received 15 phone calls from 519-772-1033 They were from 830 in the morning, all day and 4 calls thought the night....12:48am 1:35am 3:13am and 4:46am....
I want to know what business is behind this...and I want it to stop and never to call my number again...

Called 12 times in 36 hours asked for different people or no one at all.Before that my phone had been turned off so who knows how many actual times.  My phone is with Aliant and is a corporate account number. Wonder how they got that?    I found a company in Kitchener/Waterloo,Callright Marketing that has been hired by the Chronicle Herald to sell newspaper subscriptions ie the Chronicle Herald which I already get.

im getting the same phone call every morning at 10 am from the same number. i never answer b/c i always have the answering machine and the fax on. and they never leave a message. i ve been having days off last week and this week so i ve been noticing this. but i dont know how long it has been going on!!
