They called asking about someone who had a similar name but I had never met in my life.  They threw out a random birth date for this person who for the life of me I could never recall.  This was the first instance however.  At least I know what it's about now thanks to this site.

The phone rang twice and did not leave a message.  The caller ID says Operations Division.  Thanks to this site I get that it is some sort of collection agency and we will be ignoring it.

this [***] faces need a job in mcdonalds or something they call diffrent numbers and ask information with lies and the family falls and gives information so they don't stop ..so tell your family to don't answer or give information they ask for someone that dead ...even if you change the cell number the wireless provider give this [***] faces the new number

company will not identify why the are calling me or what department until I verify my social security number and date of birth

Have your HR department tell them they are committing a break of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.. they cannot call your place or work if you tell them not to, nor can they dientify as a debt collector and give the name of the person they're seeking...  but they cna't pretend to be somebody else either.
A very good way to start is "This call is being recorded, and recording may form the basis of legal depositions...  No,w how can I help you...?"
