310-555-1212  Verizon Information continues to call us and not leave messages, then we get charged by them for their calls to us.  I called VERIZON and they said it's a scam from some unknown source....yeah right, "UNKOWN" source.  What you're really telling us is that your shaking us down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A credit card company purchased that number. Pretty clever actually. If you recall it was only about 4 to 5 years ago that the house phone's of the past really started to disappear. The number XXX-555-1212 used to be the national directory assistance number you put in the area code then 5551212 and that took you to that state or localities directory assistance.

why did i get it

I got a call from this number and did not answer it.  I decided to call it back and got "411 -- Directory Assistance."  I told the 411 operator that I had just received a call from 555-555-1212 and just pressed the number to call it back and she said that 555-555-1212 is 411 Directory Assistance and no one would be calling someone from that number.  Well, I told her someone did, in fact, call me from that number.  So, I am going to keep the call info and report it to the government agency for unwanted/harrassment calls.  We'll see what they have to say.

Got a MISSED call from 555-555-1212 when I called back it went to 411 when I asked why they were calling me the lady told me they cannot call out from that number when I told her you certainly did she hung up. very weird...

Missed a call from 555-555-1212, called it back and got AT&T 411 info.  The automated service requested a city and state.

Unwanted spam call. Advertisement of car insurance claiming to be authorized by motor vehicles department, indicating that I am currently overpaying for insurance.

Recorded voice claiming they are authorized by motor vehicles department, and that I'm overpaying for insurance.  DMV isn't involved in consumers motor vehicle insurance rates.  This is a scam.

Got a pre-recorded call from this # saying it is from public service.  It said I was overpaying the auto insurance and asked me to press 1 to continue or 2 to unlist.  I just hung up.  Check on web site, one company listed as fax #, several companies listed as tel#.  Weird? Right!  Scam.

This number calls my cell phone which is unusual as of course, that is "unpublished".  Must be a random dialer.

I just got a call from this number and they are from an insurance company. They have the option to press 3 to be removed from their list.

These people called me TWICE this AM *WITHIN ONE MINUTE* on my PRIVATE, PRE-PAID Cell phone - that is not 'attached' to ANY CREDIT.  NOR, have I done business with BOA - EVER.  I have a Chase credit card, but they have a LAND LINE for that account.

I DO NOT OWE **ANY** outstanding debt, so this is OBVIOUSLY SPAM.  Occasionally, I get collection calls for the person who had this number before me, but that was SO LONG AGO that the statute of limitations MUST be expired by now, so these are just BOTTOM FEEDING SCUMSUCKERS.

**WHY** are they allowed to use SPOOFED numbers to HARASS people?  ISN'T THAT ILLEGAL???

just got a call from this number. i didn't answer and no voicemail.

Answered, pressed 1 and when a rep picked up the phone I asked whether this was indeed a public service (as the recording asserted) or whether it was a solicitation. The rep hung up.

They called saying they  are the census bureau

i do not know who this is but they have called me also and it happens every minute or two. i blocked the caller and i hate that this is happening i know how you feel

I've had several calls from 555-555-1212 recently. Since my phone system reads out either the phone number or the callers name, I can usually know who is calling before I'd pick up the phone. Most of the calls from this particular phone number only register their phone number. They never leave a message. They always hang up once the answering machine picks up their call. Today, however, my phone read out the name, National Revovery. . . There may have been more to the name, but this is all I got. Whoever they are, I don't know them and I'm certainly NOT going to answer their calls. Today, I added them to my phone's blocking list, but I'm sure that they'll reappear soon with a new number.

Calls me numerous times a day, never leaves a message, so i finally called the number back and after several rings, they answered and identified themselves as bell directory assistance.  Not sure why they keep calling but really need to stop.
