Got a call about 6:30am they claiming to be the IRS. Then just hung up.

We hadn't heard from "Jack Smith" for several months and were JUST talking about these calls last night....well, he must have heard us talking about him because sure as anything we got the threatening IRS message today!  I'm sure posing as the IRS must be a federal offense, but since these guys are over seas it's likely they'll never get caught.  PLEASE do not give these guys any money or your personal info!!  Definite scam!!!

Same experience as the other posters. Left 2 messages on my answer machine. Scam!

They called this morning, ask for me by first name, I said speaking, he mumbled his name and that he was calling from the IRS. I said "no your not". He sighed ,then hung up. lol

Same as above; I blocked the exact same call from a different phone number with San Francisco origins 3 months ago. They are clearly using US/Canada free auto-generating phone number apps. The comments above are correct concerning the IRS will not cold call you; you will receive notification via secure mail in the event of a discrepancy, with options to get it fixed within a given time frame and the option to call a formal office to speak with an IRS representative. DO NOT give these guys any information! instead do something funny like post the number in an explicit add on Craigslist in the area associated with the zip code, then proceed to share with the rest of us for a good laugh! much as above, a menacing, threatening call which I did not respond to but merely found this  site and concluded as the  rest of you that Al or whatever his name is must practice his pitch in front of the mirror.
