The caller impersonating an IRS representative requested my Social Security number to verify the call. It is imperative that you refrain from engaging with such individuals. Disregard the call and terminate it immediately. I strictly adhere to the principle of not disclosing personal information over the phone to anyone under any circumstances. This phone number has been reported to both federal and state law enforcement agencies.

Call back gets, "Thank you for calling "Same-Day Tax Resolution Services.  All of our agents are assisting other clients.  We recently tried to contact you regarding your case..."  So definitely not the IRS but I can see how one might be lead to believe that from such a voicemail.  There is one thing though, if you do get a call that identifies itself as a fraud department for the IRS, a bank, a CC company, etc., don't ignore it.  Be suspicious by all means but call the published number for the agency and ask to be transferred to the fraud department.  In addition to directly scamming, scammers try to throw doubt on real fraud calls.
