It's a scam i got the same thing today. I sent a text back with STOP, and black listed the number. The only way i can think this happened was some hidden code in one of the free apps in the Android market .

I got 2 texts from 60199, found I had been charged for them, they were unsolicited. I reported this to my service provider, Vodaphone, who have reimbursed me, with a bit extra to what the charge was and blocked this number from contacting my phone again. They were very helpful. They said teh number was something to do with Weather reports. The context of teh texts however, were about changing my phone settings. Which I did not do

Yes these dodgy tossers have been texting me, if you don’t get anywhere with the network get the manager on the line.

    Also to note:

I am on the ONE plan with 3... you aint gonna go over your allowance lets face it, so get them to put a £0.00 over spend allowance on the account which will give you piece of mind while your sorting this mess out!

The telephone number quoted on the customer service is always out of office even the middle of the day on the Tuesday!!!!!

if you can BAN the number from your phone, get the network to refund you, and if in don’t lock your spend allowance on the account down to stop additional charges.

I didn't text because I was fearful of a flood of other chargeable texts.

    Good luck

I phoned Orange about this and they told me that I had to call 0800 0988465 and speak to the message originator directly. Orange were unable to stop the messages as they come from an outside source.  I spoke to someone on that number and they reimbursed the charges to my paypal account. The lady at Orange told me that they would likely do this as they do not want Ofcom looking at them.  My involvement with them started after I went to upgrade an app on my android phone, it wasnn't an app upgrade it was an embedded advert instead so beware.

Got a text from 60199 thanking me for subscribing. Had no idea why. So sent STOP to the number. Now find that I have spent £4.18 on this scam so far. My network provider have given me the direst number which is 0800 098 8510, so I have phoned to get a message, American female "Out of office hours".

I was scammed by this too after downloading a battery upgrade and a weather app so not sure which one it was, i went to the companys website mytechalertsnow.com and got their email address and contacted them that way. It took a few days to get a response but they offered me a refund right away, i received a cheque from them yesterday but it's in dollars and will cost me more than the face value in bank charges to cash it!!!!  So will email again and ask them to credit my paypal account.

This company charging me £4.50 a week for sending me texts. Think I subscribed by accident when trying to figure out how to use new phone and was sent a message asking if I wanted to stop my battery losing charge.  I may have accidentally replied, as pressed wrong button.  Trying to work out how to stop it!

I have just spent 3 weeks trying to get to the bottom of why I was receiving these messages, cost me about £12, which Vodafone refunded, they blocked premium texts, but still received one every Friday re phone settings like someone else. I tried to reply with STOP, but as premium texts were blocked, woudn't let me.

Eventually, Vodafone gave me a number 0800 098 8510, and they said I had subscribed by text on July 15th, which I didn't, but also downloaded the battery app, so reckon it's hidden in there.

This is a subscription message from My Tech Alerts Now. I have never subscribed to this so it must have been buried in one of the free Andriod apps I have down loaded. Their service costs £4.50 per week....actually £4.50 per text message! They have a Helpline number 0-800-098-8510 which doesn't look like a free UK landline number the way it's set out.

My service provider have been excellent and reimbursed all the unsolicited charges from this Tech Alerts to the tune of £20.00. If you do get these random text reply STOP or STOP ALL and that will unsubscribe you.

Same happened to me, I talked to Vodafone about it and they said they would take these charges off my bill... I hope they do
They gave me the details of the company, its an American based firm and yes its a very dodgy fraud by taking up an android app
This firm should be sued imho

Got SMS offering an app to help me with my battery. I thought it was from my phone maker. Which I have just found out it is not. And they told me it was a scam. I have been charged two texts at £0.102 & another text for £3.83. Rang my ISP & they have black-listed the number & re-imbursed the £3,83p
I will be a lot more wary of apps?

This text message is from MyWeatherAlertsNow.com, their customer service number is 0800 098 8510.I did not subscribe this weather service, but they kept on sending me text messages from 60199(charged 10 pence) and  700046001(charged 4.50GBP per text). I think when I downloaded some free apps on Andriod phone they must of some how got hold of my number.

littleit ... Please do some proper checking before posting inaccurate information in the future.

WeatherAlertNow is NOT the product charging UK phone customers for messages. I know, I wrote it. I have provided weather forecasts for broadcast stations in the USA and Canada for over 30 years. WAN is a free service for radio and television stations they can use to send free weather alert messages to listeners who request it on their websites. No fees are charged to the recipients or the stations, or collected by us. Further, we have no android or smart phone apps what-so-ever. I am also not located in Maine, but am retired in the Dominican Republic.

Have no idea where you got your information, but that email address goes to me, and I can't help anyone here that fell for a phone scam or doesn't know how to properly use their own phones.

But then you are all British, so that probably explains a lot.
