I got a call from this company.   They answered Arizona highway patrol Association.  In a moment of weakness I get to the point of giving them a cc number for a small donation.  When he asked for the code on the back I got leary.  He said he was sending an envelope out next day  .  I did however call the state troopers association and they verified this was a legit charity and named the company for me, after I gave them the phone number.      I probably will still not donate at this time, but the information was verified.

July of 2016 they a still calling. They are not associated with the AZ State Troopers Assn.

We received a call too and donated.  Grrrr, yes, a scam!

I was called by someone saying they were with the AHPA asking for donation to support officers death & dissability fund.  Caller was nice but I said I wanted to do some research before I donated. I do several types of donations every year and just wanted to be sure about who they were. I googled them and came to this site along with aztroopers.org.  After only a little bit of looking it does appear to be a legitimate charity that does do actual things in the community. When I called back the number that called me I got a voicemail for a Mr. Willis.  I left a message stating I had questions and would like a call back. My call was returned the next day.  I don't know about the others who have posted, but I had a different experience.
