- AmieHi. I got sucked into this situation by trying to apply for a job that I seen on a website like: Careerbuilder or Monster. The posting said that their company preferred people that were considering a higher education and before you could complete the application process you were urged to sign up to receive info from a online university. I am vaguely consider going back to school, so I figured it couldn't hurt to receive some information in the mail.... But I didn't sign up to get 5 calls a day!
In my searches online to figure out who was calling, though I highly expected it was The University of Phoenix, I came across Vicki's posting on March 31, 2008 - On the 1st page. She said to go to the website, enter a live chat, and request that they take you off the call list. I just did the same and was told that I was removed. My last call was about 10 minutes ago, so we'll see if it really works. Visit the site & try it yourself.

Good luck! - JosieAs an employee for UoP and as someone who spends her day calling these random numbers, I suggest you answer and politely ask for them to remove your name if you don't want to be called. Otherwise you're in a queue to be called every 2 hours from 8am to 7pm and we're actually not allowed to leave messages. Only enrollment counselors can (trust me, we aren't total fans of this...we'd love to tell you who's calling). And the ones that call you are only calling to verify your info, so if you ARE interested, even in info on programs, just answer the questions, it takes a minute and a half, and then you can go to someone who CAN provide you info.
But like I said, if you don't want them to call, answer and say please stop calling my number. And please be polite, as it's just a way to pay bills for us and we don't want to ruin your life, I promise.- Caller: Apollo Group
- JosieAlso, speaking to a supervisor does nothing more than just speaking to a rep. When you say "Please stop calling" or "Please take me off your list" we are required to mark you on a Do Not Call list. It's that easy.
- AprilThis is for the University of Phoenix. Do not give them your information! I wanted something to be sent in the mail but when I finally answered and asked them why they do not stop calling me they said "we don't send information in the mail. We obtain all of your information and forward you to a representative in your area who can answer your questions." I let them forward me to someone in my area, and told her to send me an email because I was sick of them calling me EVERY DAY. She sent me an email, which I did not respond to, and she continued to call me and send me emails over and over and over. I'm so annoyed.
Even if I did want to go to this school (I didn't when I found out it was only online) I wouldn't go just because of how annoying they are.- Caller: University of Phoenix
- Neil replies to VickiAh yes thanks. That was actually quite painless. Now time to wait and see if they actually removed me from the list like they said they did.
- Brittany WebbI have told them to stop calling and they keep calling. I want them to stop calling me..it's so annoying!!
- Caller: University of Phoenix
- Roger replies to stephenWhy would you tell someone to call you and then not answer? The best contact is by phone who wants to listen to a message? not me. Answer your phone idiot!!!!

- Ivy replies to Noellesorry to tell you, but try to get out of it. That is unless you know 100% what you are getting yourself into. What I am saying is that there is a small chance for you to pay back loans (if you have them) [they will pile up] (go look up a video by Frontline on for profit schools) and also almost impossible to get a job especially when many employers trash resumes from UA
