Call display showed this number close to 6pm. Picked up but no one replied. Dec 12, 2024
Get these without anyone on the line only from other locations to get a call in a day or so trying out a scam (last was a few days ago from another number saying I won Reader's Digest lottery).

A Guy with an accent said is it OK to answer some questions about a survey. I'm calling from the Canadian government. When I told him my phone was about to die, he asked if he could call back. Unfortunately, I am busy I said. Not sure with unknown it was the govt though honestly.

Call back gets, "Hello, if you received a call from us we were trying to reach you to participate in a market research survey for our company."  Never gave company name but did say, "..to be added to our DNC list visit DNClistaddme.com.  If you go to that web address you get a form titled "EDCI DNC List Request Form."  EDCI

Called me under PRIVATENAME
picked up… he said “actually no” then hung up

Unknown voice said ‘illegible name’
‘wasn’t doing so good’
Hung up. Obviously a scam and possibly would’ve been looking for money

This number text messaged my son who is a minor, Aug 20, 2025, asking him, “do you want to have sex”.

Those lure texts go out for the 1000's and probably from a spoofed number.
The easy way is to forward the text to 7726 as spam. This should block the number as well. You could take the phone to your local police and see if they can do anything about tracing the call.

They said they're from BC Hydro and asked to complete a survey. Seems like a scam
