- DJI am getting calls from all these company's and don't know them. Sick of it. I don't answer different numbers.
- Caller: Market Research
- LTMy wife worked at a center like this back in college. Most people don't realize that the do not call list doesn't apply to this type of call, cause they're only asking survey questions. If they were selling you something, then the do not call list applies. Crazy huh?
- Caller: WB&A
- Call type: Survey
- Monica| 3 repliesI worked at this particular company back in Ithaca when I was in college. The Do Not Call list does not apply bc this company (WB&A Market Research) is not selling anything. The people here are only trying to assist in generating research for a variety of companies and cultural topics as well as GOVERNMENT organizations.
WB&A policy DOES NOT allow interviewers to leave messages, hence the missed calls/hang ups on your answering machines. Best advice to get them to stop calling? Take the survery OR PICK UP THE PHONE AND TELL THEM TO STOP CALLING YOU. They will then put a code into their computer next to your number to take you off their list. If you do not pick up, they will continue to stop calling until the survey deadline (sometimes months at a time) or quota has been met.
This was actually a pretty sweet job for a college kid (paid over $11/hr plus bonuses) and the majority of "annoying callers" are actually extremely nice. Great customer service was a requirement for the position so if you feel 'put out' by an means by these particular calls, let them know and WB&A would be happy to take you off their list. Side note: I don't work here anymore so there is no incentive for me to talk about what a great company this is; it's just annoying to see so many complaints about something so nontrivial.
Get off your lazy ass, pick up the damn phone and tell them you're not interested! It's really not that serious. - anti-monica replies to Monica| 2 repliesYou're annoying.
- SueGot this call from 6073305304 at work, it was 8:32pm. Called the number back it a WB&A Marketing.
- Caller: WB&A
- sugar leereceived call from this # who asked for someone who was not at home, said they were from Amtrak and would call back.
- Chris replies to FuriousMarket Research companies are exempt from Telemarketing rules because they are not telemarketers. they are conducting legitimate surveys and are paid by major organizations to do this work. So being on the Do Not Call List and having an unlisted number will not protect you from these calls because they purchase specialized phone number lists from companies. Often they get your phone number from someone you do business with like a Life Insurance Company or a credit card company !
- Chris replies to pkIf they call every day and they are a market research firm doing a survey, the calls will continue till they have their quota of respondents for this survey. The quickest way to have them stop calling you is to answer the phone and either take their survey or tell them to take your number of their list.
- C replies to DM8:49 p.m. is extremely late?? That's when I usually talk on the phone -- maybe better reconsider. If anyone calls me at 8:49 a.m., though, I will be extremely annoyed.
- Monica replies to anti-monica| 1 replyLOL why am I annoying? bc I made a valid point? If getting the inside scoop about WB&A and learning how to get off their calling list annoys you, then you either have some serious problems or are just extremely ignorant. haha good luck with that in the future... you sound like a real winner.
- MarthaI just got a call at 8pm from Ithaca, NY. After reading everyone's comments I too have Care First BlueCross Blueshield. I also recently sent in a claim that they denied. They suck a large [***]. For not maintaining privacy they should be punished by a punisher!!!!
I also hope that they fail like all of the other medical insurance greed. - Jeff Wilkinson replies to MonicaSparky, these pencil-neck geeks keep calling me even though I took their survey. You make some valid points vis a vis the nature of the company making these calls and how to, theoretically, stop the calls in the future. However, I don't have cherished memories of getting calls at 9:23 PM. If I get a call tonight, the caller will be greeted with a 110 decibel rendition of "Smoke on the Water" played on my Fender Stratocaster guitar amplified by the old reliable 90 watt Marshall amplifier.
- SunThey called me twice within a two week span in the early evening. Based on everyone's comments, I suspect this is Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield which I have. F***ers! One more item on my hate list for this company.
- cobra replies to annoyedMe to from the same numbers
- I don't careSame here. I have CareFirst BlueCrossBlueShield now and I got this call one day after my second appointment. I guess they are responsable for the calls. I am going to request direct to CareFirst BlueCrossBlueShield custome services to not distrub me with any "F" research. By law they need to stop that. I hope they will got the message. I don't think they realize that those call doesn't work. Most on a cell phone... Don't use my minutes for your "BS". But most important "People should not call back anyone who doesn't leave messages. Stop to call them back and call your health care company directly about that. The same thing with Kaiser Permanente they use the same WB&A MKT for their "BS" research.
- Caller: CareFirst BlueCrossBlueShield/WB&A MKT

- los angeles housewifegot a call at 5:42 pm PST from 607-330-53-4 - on my cell - i had the phone off - they did not leave a message and i only saw it when i checked missed calls - i have none of the company associations listed above- no college to attend- no health companies listed - nothing in common with anyone above

just have caller id and /or unplug your phones !- Caller: WB & A
- JohnGot a call and they knew my name and asked about military info for market research. It wasn't bad, but unnecessary.
- Call type: Survey
- Michael| 2 repliesI work at WB&A. This is how I pay my bills. Honestly, I'm just doing my job when I call someone. Some people get way too uptight about receiving phone calls. If you don't want us to call you, answer the phone and say so. It really is that simple. I can't stand the type of people who answer the phone and just be outright rude. You wouldn't act that way in person so why act that way on the phone.
Anyhow, here is some insider information on the surveys you may take. A lot of times we are basically told to mislead people as to the exact reason we're calling. For example, in the military study John seemed to have received a call about, this is actually a study funded by the Air National Guard. The interviewer who calls you will NOT tell you this. They will simply say it's about getting people's "attitudes towards the military". While this may be somewhat true, the real nature of this survey is to see how well the Air National Guard's advertising works and how much affect it has on influencing those ages 17-39 to join. This survey is NOT a recruiting survey, however. But do expect to receive a call back a few months later after taking the survey. I'm told there is a follow up in which we will call back those who completed it. I'm not quite sure what it's about.
Another misleading survey is what we call "School Studies". These are actually worth taking as there is $50-100 incentive for completing. We call high school seniors who have applied for college in the fall in order to find out why a student applied for a certain school. What the students don't know is that these are actually funded by specific schools. We make it seem like we're interested in learning about all the schools they applied to but in reality we just want to now about one, the client school. One of the clients we work with for example is Michigan Anne Arbor. Michigan is looking for information about what is good and what is not good about they're school, in the student's opinion.
And one more misleading study is one call you might receive where all the interviewer will tell you is that it is a study about healthcare. We will ask who your health care provider is and then ask you general satisfaction questions in regards to your carrier. The motive behind this is for the client, Blue Cross of Idaho, to find out what makes these Idaho residents choose those health care carriers over BCI.
Anyhow, all and all WBA is an okay place to work and we really aren't trying to scam anybody. Although some studies might be a little misleading, it really is only your opinions and feedback we're after. If you don't want to participate just answer the phone and say so. Otherwise, be nice to the people calling as they're just trying to make a living like anybody else. - Franck BanksOK, let me get this right, Market Research is exempt from Do-Not-Call when they are making profits off of peoples private health information forbidden by HIPAA and other laws? Yah, a law with no teeth.
- Caller: WB&A MARKET RESEARCH
- Call type: Survey
- Franck Banks replies to Michael| 1 replySo, just send a letter and ask that people fill out a survey, if they want to they will. Simple as that. Or would you prefer deceitful responses? Yeah, maybe that is what you want so your numbers look cool.
