Actually, bad debt falls off your credit after 7 years ( in most states) unless its a judgement or bankruptcy.  Debt collectors cannot legally collect on a debt after its reached its statute of limitations (which is different for each state).  Not everyone who is getting collection calls actually owes any money.  You should probably refrain from judging so quickly.  Many companies sell debt that is already paid because the new company doesn't know that. It's a sell for them and a hassle for the client who has already paid. Most collection calls are legit, but for those who have had to file bankruptcy or already paid debts, those calls still do come in (illegally). Don't allow debt collectors to hassle you. You are protected under the law by them and their tactics.  You seem like you might be one since you are so passionate about defending one.  Everyone has a job to do, but there is a good and a bad way to fulfill that.  I used to be a collector so I know.

Ok, just to let anyone that doesn't know. If a company buys your debt, they are responsible for getting you to pay what every you owe. The thing is you did not go into contract with who every it is that bought your debt. So why would anyone buy someone else's debt? Who came up with this bright idea. Here let me go out and by America's debt and be responsible for getting America to pay they're debt!!!!! Yeah like that going to happen. For Pete's sake how effing dumb is that. Common sense.

You are so wrong, the ones that I have heard about from friends they are scum of the earth all collection agenices are.  I don't figure you say there are good ones, hell not one good one out there period.  If its run by lawyers they ae the nastiest lieing bunch of smartasses.  No collection agency deserves to exist in my words and all need to be closed down like the stupid crappy 3 credit reports.  They also are liars and could careless about your credit and getting it straight.  They are scammers period.  Oh bet you say you have bad credit,,,hello no I have A plus credit, just bought me and my husband a brand new cab tractor, air, heat, sunroof, buddy seat and a bunch of more goodies on it, bought a brand news Zero Turn lawnmower, bought a new Timberjack Skidder, Case track bought a new Cadillac STS, new truck crewcab loaded.  Bought a large cattle ranch of 2000 acres and bought several big equipment like a Caterpillar & big Case Craweler clearing my land to sell timber and build road on it.  I just bought a landscaping business, Sawmill & Timber business and large herd of Angus Cattle to put on my land.  So you see I have no reason to tell my story of these crooked collection agencies.  My deal is I'm going to start trying to shut the [***] down one by one and that's my right to do so because I have lots of money now.  You see I had a really good friend they literally destroyed her and she committed suicide.  So you [***] I'm coming after you because my parents made me a very, very, very wealthy woman.  Have a lousy day you collection agencies because BetsyBug is coming after your [***]!!

So you didn't even EARN all this money you are throwing around. Well I guess that gives you the right to do just about anything you want....  you know.. Because you have money now.

Yes debt collectors are [***] because they have to deal with [***] people.  

Here's a tip.  They WOULDN'T EXIST if people actually paid their debts.  See how that works??

They call-n-if you don't answer, they don't have the guts to leave a message so whom ever pays them must be happy to throw their money away while these others places calls for nothing.

This person called and had some personal information about me, asking very aggressively to confirm my zip or birth date.  They refused to state their name or where they were calling from, or why.
