what is that going to do???  the DNC list means nothing to calls originating outside the U.S...

Called and hung up while simultaneously calling and NOT hanging up on me.  Kinda weird.  I thought it was hubby's new number at work and that he might be having trouble with the new phone system, so I answered, but no one was there.

If no one is there when you answer, the reason is that they are establishing the fact that your number is "good".  They then sell/share your number with other telemarketers.  Expect an increase in unwanted calls coming up from other telemarketer numbers in the next few days or even weeks and months due to this tactic.

BTW, the the Do Not Call registry does nothing to stop telemarketers and scammers from calling you.  You have to keep track of all the calls, then alert your State's Attorney General's office to complain.  The AG will subpoena the complaints you've filed with the DNC when/if they ever go after the violators.  That's the only reason the DNC exists, just to keep files of complaints in case of legal action.  That info is kinda buried in their small print.

To everyone who gets these calls:  Please use your connections as I’m trying to use mine to stop this non-sense.  Same call only from a different, spoofed number every time. They want to lower my interest rate making me think it’s a call from one of my credit card companies. In reality, it’s a scam trying to get personal information. The “Do Not Call List” complaints do no good but I fill one out every time anyway in case law enforcement ever pursues these scam artists.  How many of you are fed up with these shenanigans? We all need to complain to whoever will take the complaint; law enforcement, attorney general, phone companies, news show consumer investigators, etc.  This link to the FCC complaint page may be a start:  http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Called and refused to identify the company he was representing.  I told him I was on a DNC list and he called me name and hung up

These calls are not from who they say they are. They are not telemarketers. They are scammers trying to get your current credit card number.  The FCC does not deal with that. Call the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) at 877-382-4357 to report the phone number these criminals called from. Or go to www.ftc.gov.

This is what happens with the people who want to make money at home.  The make unwanted and annoying phone calls.

I spoke with Mark Williams, who was actually pretty nice for someone who works for these scammy companies.  I kept him on the line for as long as I could until my dinner was getting cold.  He said he was calling from "Lower Rate Services."  Usually the people that call me are from "Account Services."  It looks like other people have gotten calls from "Cardholder Services."  Sure seems like they can't even get their own company straight!

Same thing here called back and get their mailbox is full!

RUDE! They call and speak fast and over you. I kindly attempt to find the name and address of the company so I can mail a cease and desist and they are quick to just hang up on you. Don't even try to call them back, conveniently NO ANSWER. Who does business like this? I guess just another sign of desperate times. :( SAD.

repeated calls from this number.  if i answer, all i hear is a click on the other end.  when i try to call this number back I receive a message that this number is not accepting calls

I've done that and not sure they do anything.

I am so tired of these calls I get them all the time and when I call them back its this person isn't accepting calls at this time.

Numerous reports to DNC and FTC do nothing! Matter-of-fact, when you report to FTC, the FTC then keeps calling you with their survey! Ummmm....isn't the point of all this to STOP annoying calls?! :/ SMH!!! Sorry, Mr President- I think it's about time we American's start asking what our Country can do for us...esp since, to date, it's done squat!! :s

I am getting damn tired of getting calls when no one answers when I pick up the phone. This s*** needs to be stopped. I am on the do not call list which does nothing to stop these people from calling. I have reported numbers before and they still call.
