The Government needs to step up and start fining these phone numbers on the no call list. After all we pay enough in taxes.

Portfolio Recovery called my husband for over a year trying to collect a debt that his ex wife had. They even began calling me. Finally my husband mailed in a formal letter calling for the validity of the debt. We soon received a letter from Portfolio Recovery that they were dropping the charges against my husband. That was over three months ago. We continue to get calls from them. Grr.

Answered and just laid the phone down. This keeps them from being able to use the phone again for awhile or until you hang your phone up.

Portfolio again.

These jerks are not worth the space they take up.  They've been harrassing me since my dad's obit appeared in the newspaper. And he didn't owe anyone a penny.

NEVER answer phone numbers you don't recognize.  If the call is ACTUALLY important, the caller will leave a REAL voice message.

Wow... had blocked other numbers that Portfolio has used before and wasn't bothered by them again until today... no voice mail but in the same sequence of phone number as the others... no voice mail of course, which is fine cos I wouldn't listen to it anyway... why don't they just go away????

Received a call, didn't answer and then called back. They said it was a debt collection / lawyer something or other. They asked for the name of who it was they called. I said, "You tell me. You're the one who called!" They said they couldn't give out that information. I instructed them to remove the number from their list.

Calls all of the time, day or night. NEVER leaves a message. No idea why they are calling me... sometimes I think that they call me just to see if I am still alive and breathing....

It sounds suspicious!! Report to your attorney general and to the Consumer Credit protection agency.
