I just received the following text email.  I believe it to be a scam.  When I went to the website, it said the page was frozen, so I'm guessing it really is a scam:

We are looking to donate some pre-used items in our clinic as we have recently acquired new medical supplies and a new mobile van and now offering to donate a pre-used " all purpose" mobile van and the veterinary equipments below. 1 Ultrasound 1 Autoclave Are you familiar with these? I did not (yet) receive a call from this number, but I did receive the same e-mail message. I responded via e-mail and received the following e-mail (note the new website address):

The ultrasound, autoclave and the mobile are all available in good working condition and the ultrasound is a 100) DEMO Acuson Cypress PLUS portable diagnostic echo ultrasound units that include: * Revison 20 software * Color Doppler * Stress Echo * Harmonic Imaging * PW/CW Doppler * Cardiac/Vascular/Abdomen. It comes with 4 probes, the probes are an E8C-RS Vaginal Probe, 8L-RS Vascular Probe, 3S-RS Cardiac Probe, and a 3C-RS Probe. This item will also come with a carrying case for this system that is hand-carried convenience.

The model of the autoclave is the Sanyo Personal Series Portable Autoclave, Sanyo MLS-3780 and comes with two stainless steel baskets. The mobile van is a 2006 model of  GMC Savanna 3/4 ton cargo van with 2500 Duramax Diesel engine.

The mobile van is compatible to US roads and standards as the van was originally built and designed for the US market and then sold to Asian market with a drive permission. Shipping is feasible but  I would need the complete information of your location to check on the logistics of shipping.

I got this email too. I think it is overseas. So I would not be interested .

Prefix is for Thailand  But what is stranger is the questions of whether or not you are familiar with an autoclave and ultrasound?  Coming from a vet?
Scam is certainly on my mind.

The phone number belongs to the Pathumwam Princess Hotel. The address posted on the website belongs to the Silom City Inn. (Both hotels are in Bangkok and appear to have been chosen at random!)

And don't expect Tucows, Inc, the domain host, to get involved. They send an automated message that they cannot possibly track down or be concerned with spam.

We got the email also. Obviously a scam.

I got the email too.  This is the second one.  There was another from a Lucy Leigh back in October that I had suspected to be a phishing scheme.  Whatever you do don't visit the links or go to the website!!!

Thanks everyone for the research. I just got this email too and was wondering if I need to be polite and respond. I guess I'm off the hook.

I just now got this email, so I checked around before responding (am grateful folks posted their experiences).

Because I have been involved in wildlife rehabilitation, run a pet Budgie group on Yahoo eGroups, etc., I looked this over carefully.  But, the (former) probation officer in my began to smell something funky, so I started investigating let me here and other places, all with the same reports and information.

It occurred to me that the person sending the email was possibly trying to dispose of stolen items, trying to establish a phone number, name and email with an email account in order to commit some later scamming, or something in that order.

Received this email...got that 'feeling" something wasn't on the up and up with it.  Glad I Googled.

Received the same email today, but without the website link. We have an online lab service and would have legitimate use for the equipment. So it seems they're going out of their way to seek targets in the medical community. Probably just a coincidence though. I think they're just phishing for contact info and the medical angle was best idea they came up with. It works though. Targeting a specific industry does add credibility. Alot more convincing than the usual phishing spam.
