check your state laws.  States like Mass, Ohio, and Oregon , you can verbally tell a debt collector to stop calling you and send the information in the mail.  If your not in one of those state you will need to get their mailing address and send a cease and desist letter to have them stop calling.

Call all the time from numbers from all areas of the country.  Don't know how they got this number, but they have been known to call neighbors to get your phone number!  I will be looking into the number of calls I have received from this company and I do fully intend to contact an attorney to sue!

I get calls from these cretins - infrequently, perhaps none for several days, then a couple from a variety of #'s for two or three days.  I was divorced several years ago, and had few debts, all small, and all current.  Have virtually no debt today, and even fewer and smaller, and all current.  As best as I can figure, they either have received some erroneous info, or it could be my attorney didn't confirm something, and some outfit paid in -full after divorce showed something incorrectly as not fully credited.  Whatever, I completely ignore any strange #'s - and when they do occasionally leave a voice mail message, it is from some obviously inarticulate representative, reading and mispronouncing words from a script.  As others have mentioned, these weasels buy old debt packages - FAR BEYOND LEGAL PERIOD TO BE COLLECTIBLE - for a few ¢'s on each $ - and hope to pester or threaten some naîve soul into paying something.  The main caveat is NEVER get into a discussion which could even hint at acknowledgement, or the debt (i.e. "alleged") can be restored to currency and a status of legal collectibility.  With modern telephone technology, these bottom-feeders can auto dial thousands of #'s, and if they collect something on just a small %age, make a significant profit.  And ALWAYS bear in mind that if there were even the least bit of legitimacy as to collectibility of the items they are pestering you about, they would proceed (however smarmy those in this profession are anyway) in a more direct manner, with correspondence, and specificity, instead of a plethora of calls originating from a host of #'s all over the map.  IGNORE!!

You may not have luck stopping them from calling a landline, but if you have a cell phone...download the app "Mr. Number." It takes care of all of it.  Blocks all private, unknown caller, out of area.  It blocks any number or text address you tell it to.  Very nice!  Just wish they had something similar for landlines.
