- Butch replies to Tequila SunriseI have received like two everyday for the past three days. When I answered there was no one there. When I called back got a message saying thank you for calling your local news paper. Being I work for my local news paper I will be checking this out in the morning.
- KACEEN25702-576-0450 - continues to call me - twice a day. CNG is the caller ID. There is a click over and then they hang up. I called this number back and the recording said "this is a non-working number." Really...then who the heck is calling me and using a fake ID. Next time I'm going to answer with 'you have been reported to the federal authorities and i.d. is recorded. call me again and i will prosecute.'

- nanceit's the stupid newspaper on the other end of the phone... half the time they don't answer. If you pick up and don't get anyone, the computer will flip out if you hit the pound number, it will think it's rec'd a fax, and will not call again. so my friend says, works for her.
They call on my line, and then a half hour later call on my husbands' business line. really wish I could reach out touch someone.- Caller: CNG

"How will I access the National Do Not Call Registry?
Online at www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov
How will the National Do Not Call Registry work?
Starting January 1, 2005, telemarketers and sellers will be required to search the registry at least once every 31 days and drop from their call lists the phone numbers of consumers who have registered. Through December 31, 2004, telemarketers will have to update their lists every three months. The dedicated, fully automated and secure Web site at www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov will provide this information to telemarketers and sellers.
When an organization accesses the system for the first time, it will have to create a profile and provide some identifying information, such as organization name and address, authorized representative, and the representative's telephone number and email address. If an organization is accessing the registry on behalf of a client-seller, the organization may need to identify the client (or clients).
The only consumer information organizations will be able to access from the national registry is a registrant's telephone number. Consumers' phone numbers will be sorted and available by area code. Each organization accessing the registry data will be required to pay an annual fee based on the number of area codes the company accesses.
On subsequent visits to www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov, organizations will be able to download either a complete updated list of numbers from their selected area codes or a more limited list that shows additions or deletions since the last download.
A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $16,000 per incident." - Kolorado| 1 replyCaller ID CNG 702-576-0450
Hangs up when I answer. I called them back, they told me I had been signed up to receive 3 free months subscription to my local newspaper. I told them I didn't want it and I didn't authorize this and I want my name/number removed.
I asked my local newspaper office about it, they said they it's a number of years since they were affiliated with this company, they used them a long time ago to contact previous customers with promotions , but are no longer affiliated with this company and they do NOT have any such promotions available right now. Our local newspaper manager said they will be contacting this company to tell them to stop calling their customers because CNG is no longer authorized to be doing this for them.
They also told me, they have a had a few shady companies pocketing extra $ in the past, by obtaining a list of names/numbers of people who subscribe to local newspapers and soliciting. One of those companies was located in Las Vegas, but she wasn't sure if this is the same one.
RED FLAG: The reason they don't answer when you pick up the phone, is to get you curious enough to call them! Any time you get a phone call and the caller does not answer you or hangs up or disconnects you, is a twisted sales strategy some deceitful companies use in effort to get personal information from YOU and many times, when you call them, they will avoid any questions or disclosing any information to you, by trying to sell you something instead, the moment they answer your call, and in some cases, may take your info and then steal from you. BEWARE!
If you receive a call from this number, call them back, tell them you don't want it, when they give you their sales pitch, get the name of the newspaper it was for, and please, do give your newspaper office a call to let them know.
