Calling back the number reached a recording saying the call was from VFW, when I had answered and told the caller I had previously asked to be placed on their DNC list he said the call was from Virginia State Police.  Obviously reporting these calls to the police and to the FTC has no consequence.  Maybe when we get a tea bagger in office.

This number calls me several times a day.  Is it possible to block this number?

Since teabaggers don't believe in funding regulators to do a good job, I doubt that would make any improvement.

I got a call from this # (no ID other than "local #") today and didn't pick it up. I'll report it to donotcall.gov and hope for the best.

I  have been getting calls from this number since I changed my provider from Vonage to Verizon - for about a month now, and they call at least twice a day. I did not answer, there were no messages - they don't even wait for the answering machine to kick on. I picked up yesterday intending to tell them to get lost - but there was just silence.

Don't need your telephone calls. I have better things to do, then answer your calls

these guys are not police officers, its a scam. If anyone get a call from them ( police officers asking for donations) transfer or give the phone number to your local police department

The caller was extremely rude--as well as being a liar. He said he had permission from our company owner to call, and would not believe that the person he was calling for was just the secretary. He yelled and wasted my time. No *real* charity would treat potential donors like that.

I returned the call later and heard a recording stating that this was for "the information line for the Virginia State Police Association"--which is one of those bogus charities that keep your money.

There are many organizations that Virginia State Police personnel may belong to, if they choose.  Those who are members pay dues.  These associations are fraternal/professional organizations and could be compared to the associations that nurses and teachers belong to in their respective professions.  Organizationally, these associations are not a part of the Virginia Department of State Police.  They are separate entities that are not a part of state government.

Ask for the ower of the company. When he was told he was not in, he was rude and nasty hung up on me.

I received a call from this number that I missed.  Called it back and got a recording that is was the VA Police Association (collecting for donations).

Call showed up on called ID as a local call but with area code 703-539-5978

I picked up this call from this number and sure enough it was yet another scumbag boiler room operation disguised as a residential number.  After I said hello, some dude said hello and I could hear a lot of other callers in the background.  I immediately said good bye and hung up on him. Its best to never give money to or do any business with these phone spammers at all.

These guys are going to keep calling as long as the joke government in Washington does little to nothing about this type of problem.  Today I got two calls so far. When the second call came in, I picked up and immediately hung up on them.  Scumbags.

Continues to call with no one there...

This number called me today, said for "call quality reasons" the call was being recorded..Went into the script about supporting the VA state police and asked for a donation.

 I explained that I donate just about every day when I pay my taxes and that it would be great if I had people calling for donations to secure my concerns outside of my regular paycheck and benefits.

 This was followed by silence and a click on his end

This number calls me constantly and it keeps coming up as a local call..the area code does not show up...is this a scam for money?

This number called me. Says local call on the CID, but the area code isn't the same as mine. I recently switched to Verizon from Cox.
