Its a collect call from an inmate at a prison. Sometimes you may recieve a call and it might not even be for you so dont mind any attention to it if you get a call. If you know someone from prison just accept :)

These calls are from a correctional institution (Dept. of Corrections) from an inmate - if you are unsure that someone you know is incarcerated, accept the call to make sure it is not a family member of friend in trouble - the phone numbers must be on an approved list before they can be called and are not random, but maybe were written incorrectly to begin with and can be a wrong number, but usually are not - if you don't ACCEPT the call it costs you nothing and you need not talk for the entire duration of the call if you do accept. If it's someone you don't know, they may appreciate knowing they are calling a WRONG NUMBER and wasting their time and yours too. What throws people is the area code which is generally not one that is local or recognizable. NOW inmates CAN cal cellphones too! If you do have incarcerated family/friend, then you may prefer they use a CALLING CARD that can be purchased with commissary goods rather than GTL (Global Tel Link an inmate calling system- that can be a royal pain for all involved and they can BLOCK your phone even when you do not want them to! Hope this helps some of you folks who are confused or upset - it's not a scam - it's a call from some jail somewhere in the USA.

I got a call from this number at 4 in the morning like 3 times!! and i had voice mails to go with it that said county jail and that was it!

I got calls from this 9 times in 1 day and they stopped calling. And now they're calling again and it says that it's from the Riverside County Jail and some inmate called "Charm" is calling me. I don't know anyone is jail

Caller ID says DOC. i see people think this is an inmate. I have a cousin in prison (in Kansas) but he has never called. I did not answer the call and it did not call back. I have not given my landline number out to any family but my mother and she doesn't talk to my cousin either. Kind of concerns me someone is calling and could be an inmate.

Just got a call from this number, it said it was a call from the Ventura County Correctional Facility. I couldn't understand the name of the person who was supposedly making the call. I just hung up. Its strange because I use to live in Ventura County, but I haven't lived there in over 5 years...

what the hell why are we getting calls from this number...

I have been getting these calls all the time and day and night. I called the Global Tel Link Customer Care Dept at 877-372-4330 and they said they would block my number and they would not call me anymore-------so we will see what happens.
The lady said you can block the calls from coming so try that. It is a business they make money on and Houston, based. They call all over for inmates! Somehow they got my number and yours!!! Stop it!!!!!!! I'm trying!! Hope it works!!!

when you use the do not call request..it takes at least 30 days to roll through the system..B patient..Good luck

caller continuously calls every minute or so.  Seems to be a collect call.

11:04 AM November 19, 2010, I received a cell phone collected call from this phone 713.574.1101, claiming it was from Texas Prison or something. I disconnected it right away.

This is coming to my cell phone and I always let it go to my voice mail because I don't answer from numbers I don't know on this phone. When I play the message back, it says something about blocking the call or accepting calls from INMATES. Is this coming from a jail or prison somewhere? I'd like to know, because I don't know of anyone who might be in jail.

This is Lino Lakes Corectional Facility. Its not a scam, I have a friend there and thats the number that comes up when he calls me.
