Got a voicemail from this number saying that I was going to be arrested and they will see me in court. What is this nonsense?!?!?!?!

Called me and told me I was going to be arrested..I started laughing told them to come get me and hung up.. they never called back..and I was never arrested lmao

A woman left a message saying I was going to be arrested. I called back, asked if it was a fraud. She got huffy and said I'd see if it was a fraud when the authorities contact me. Scam, folks.

Hi, you all are going to want to read this!!!

So I decided to call back this number to face whoever it was that was calling, and whatever I had coming to me, to get some peace of mind.  The first time they picked up, I got this girl who said I was calling the JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE.  I got to asking legitimate questions and she hung up.

A few minutes later, I called back and this time I got a guy.  Surprisingly, I was able to get answers from him.  He said his name was a D. Stenson, and he even provided me with the address and website link to the firm he said he worked for:  JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE.  In the end, he said that I was contacted in relation to some case against me by the "credit bureau".  To finish things off, I said that I didn't know the person that he was looking for and he told me to disregard the call.

Now what was really interesting is that the information that he gave me about the firm, and even his personal name are in fact all real, but being misused.  If you go to this link, www.hill-law-offices.com, you'll be taken to the website of a REAL firm, with the same mailing address that I was given, and even a D. Stenson that works there.  However, I called this office through there real number (a 510 area code), and they were already aware of their information being used and assured me that it was not them who contacted me, and that I didn't have anything to worry about.  Further, this JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE doesn't do any work for any credit bureau, but rather workers' comp.!!!!

In closing, I'm glad that these scammers gave me fake contact info because through that I was able to get to the truth.

To summarize, there is a real and legitimate law firm in California by the name of JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE, but these calls that we have been getting are not from them.  They are from wrong-intentioned people claiming to be them!!!

I wanted to share what I had found to provide some peace of mind to you all.

I just did the same thing as yourself right before i read this. I am going to copy what we found out from the company and post it on another site where people are freaking out from this phone number.

I received a call today from, 714-676-4599, they left me a voice mail saying I will be arrested in the next hour. I called back to ask what it was for and the Lady who answers, (jane?)went over a long list of charges I was being charged with and told me I have been notified. I asked for more information and she said she would transfer me to my lawyer. When the man answered he said he worked for john hill lawfirm in Oakland California,  was every short and said he will reach out to the courts to see if they can file a "oocr" not sure what that is. He placed me on a hold and said he would request this for me because I said "I'm not running, if I owe money I will pay. I have no intention of anything else but clearing this up". He came back on the line and told me that I'm luck that they approved for me to pay now and to avoid being served. Once I told him I could pay him $500 of the 1500 that they say I owe( keep in mind I still have no idea what this is a about, I have asked multiple times, still no answer). He placed me on another hold and told me when he got back on the line that the collectors said they will take 500 now and i have 30 mins to pay the next 1000. The man then yelled at me and said I'm wasting his time, I asked if I could call him back and he said once this call ends I will lose all opportunity to resolve this matter. The hung up on me after he said that.

Lost a day of work from the stress you caused me.

well I have done things that have caused me to be a resident of the state. So I can tell you all with confidence... they don't call or leave a message before they come and get you. I'm thinking we are ok.

Just called the number back that is listed on my phone 714-676-4599... and quess what?????  the person is no longer available......I guess I will not be arrested tonight.......

I just got the same call. I am located in Georgia and didn't answer when I saw a California number calling. checked the voicemail and it was an Indian lady leaving the me the same message about being arrested, see you in court etc. when I called back it went to a recording saying the caller was unavailable. freaked me out for a second.

Got a call too. Not worried but curious what is the scam are they trying to get money or just kicks trying to scare people ?

I live in Illinois and am very angry. THEY THREATEN TO ARREST YOU AND HANG UP!!  When you call back from caller ID, You just get a message saying "the person you are calling is not available" then it beeps like it is an answering machine. No caller name, no ID whatsoever and no callback number on my voicemail message or theirs. Now, I can tell you for a fact there is no way in H*** I am leaving a message and am positive this is a scam  because any reputable company will identify themselves and leave contact information. My question is...HOW IN THE HECK DID THEY GET MY CELL PHONE NUMBER???

I got the same phone call with that number. i called back few times and it said the person you try to reach is on the phone. so I called back again the lady picked up the phone with Indian accent then i asked why did you call me and threaten me she hung up the phone right way.

A lady left me a vm saying they have a legal case against me and I will be arrested.  I knew it was a fraud the minute I heard the message.  I called them back twice, but no one picked up. I wonder how many people fall for this?  Shm

Got a call on from a machine like recording saying I would be arrested at home or work place and if I need additional information to call this number.

Thank goodness for google. I just received the same message that a legal case has been filed against me,  I would be arrested and they will see me in court.  If I wanted more info to call 714-676-4599.  I'd love to know why donotcall.gov doesn't really block calls from scammers?

Its a scam... don't worry about it. .. they tell you someone will come and arrest you.... they basically want a "payment" over the phone....

I got the message on my voice mail and called back 5 times. Always said was making another call. When I did speak to someone I could not understand what they were saying. It was a bad connection. They hung up.  I kept telling them I could not understand what they were saying. If they call me again I will call the proper authorities and let them know also. I hate scams!!!
