I have no loans and never have had any, so I don't know why they call my home. There is no message on the machine and if I answer, they hang up.  This is true harrassment with no purpose whatsoever.  The number on the caller ID is 718-475-3725

these people have been calling my home for 5 months now I screen all my calls, I went to make a phone call and some how ended up with these rude people badgering me for information as to who I am and is this my SS number. I told them I was not this person and to stop calling my home, since that time they have started calling 4+ times a day and leaving no message. after some quick research here is the info I have on them. I am going to log and compile info on them for now to turn over to the local authority for harassment.

They have to be just calling random numbers because I am from the UK, and I have a US cell phone for when I come over to visit.  I don't have any loans of any kind from the US.  They've been calling at least once every morning, if not 3 or 4 times.  I've answered twice, but no one was on the line.

It has been 8-10 times a day from 8a.m. to 9p.m.  They are breaking the law.  I work for a collection agency and once they are asked to stop calling then they must.  If they don't, record the calls.  Has anyone at all had success getting them to stop?

play with them, take a character or person you can do without laughing and play with them, I like the old italion or jewish guy thats hard of hearing real nice and a bit senile, a little dirty mind is cool to throw in , but don't be rude, just a tad so they think your about 90 and an old wild hoot. I find they either quit calling or at least slow down, I get no calls for myself but my wife gets em, I like the ones that call for my mother-in-law, she had a stroke 11 years ago and never could communicate since, just jibberish , I put her on ....its a blast and she gets a kick out of it too. It actually adds a bit to their , I expect, pitiful unfullfilled dead end life, I mean imagine having that job!

    to all comments above:

first off an 888 or 800 num is not phony it's called toll free.  what company do u know of that makes u pay to call them back?  second if u paid your bills u wouldn't get calls at work about this!  It is absolutely not harrassment nor does it fall under do not call list rules!  You can request no calls at work and give them an alternate number to call u at that's your right.  your wages can absolutley be garnished that is no joke so don't think for one second it can't happen cuz it will!  My mom was garnished for a parent plus loan that was only in state default! if u stopped constantly screening your calls like a paranoid idiot and actually answered u may find it is indeed a wrong number and they will stop calling u, however people are human and sometimes the number isn't properly removed so relax if they accidentally call again. debt collectors are not all evil they have a job  to do just like u do so if u cooperate u may be surprised to find they can actually help u.

I've been harrassed by these lowlife's for @ 6 months now but
finally figured out how to get them to stop theis harassment .
First off , when they tell you that the call is being recorded ,
you cut in and say " good , because im recording this conversation also for
my records and possible legal action , Never call her here again , if you
do , the law state's i can sue for harassmant . Then tell them good-bye !
Or , the 2nd way is a little harder but does the trick . When you pick-up
and answer , start pushing the #2 button over and over again . After a while ,
about 7-10 times , It tells the other party that the number cannot be reached !

         Good-luck ,

Hi, I actually work for Pioneer, we follow the laws. We can't call you more than 4 times a day, which means someone has been naughty or it is a different company calling you. We don't change our numbers, we have different departments that can call from different lines.  Also, we can call from 8am to 9am. Now if it's a wrong number, just tell us!! Don't get all angry about it, we have the number from the debter, maybe it was changed but we still have to call it. Also, if they call you at work and you do refuse to pay, they can start the process for a wage garnishment. Alot of people don't believe it but when 15% of their paychecks is gone then they'll want to start paying, by that time you have to pay on top of the garnishment for the rehab to get out of default.
I'll be honest, alot of collectors are greedy and I don't agree with what they say. I just want to help the people that want to be helped. I won't be mean, if you can't pay and don't have a job, then don't worry about it. Just say "do not call me on any number anymore ever" and by law we can't. That goes for just the company that has your account. Also, we don't buy your loans, we are a 3rd party for dept of edu and salliemae.
Our predictive dialer has a delay to it, so we cant hear you say hi or hello when answering, sometimes we think no one is there. Not all collectors are bad. But we have to put up with greedy managers are such. I'm looking for a new job needless to say, I hate how stressful it is. And I stick up for the debters and people get so mad at me. Hey, we're all human.

Also, we do not have a "no calling list", so don't ask to be removed from it. Plus the debter owes the federal government so by law we can call to get their money back.
As I said before, not all collectors are evil. If they treat you like crap, hang up.

"Anita"  your post is 1/2 correct......

I "loaned" my daughters cell phone to a friend of 20+ years so that she could contact her daughter while she's at work....   She made the mistake of trying to work out a solution to her OLD student loan and called your company ..... When your company refused to work with her the harassment began..... meanwhile driving MY phone bill through the roof......

She told me about a month into it and I took the phone back and (made the same mistake by calling your company on MY cell phone to let them know the number she was dialing was registered in MY NAME and that it was MY line..... I (nicely) demanded that all calls cease and desist per the FDCPA....

Well -  they didn't...... and to add insult to injury they started calling MY NUMBER and telling me that they were seeking a "reference" for my friend..... (What a Joke!)

Long story short-   20 phone calls later I'm SUING "your" company for violations of the TCPA (and) several other state and federal violations.......

    Folks...... you CAN fight back-
