    Hose them Back
You get these calls because you have not OPT out of sharing your personal information, by law USAA "can" sell your personal information if you FAIL to OPT OUT, go to USAA online and OPT out.... USAA has sold your personal information to PSI so PSI can exploit you... or do what I do  I call them and annoy them.......... it's fun........ keep calling them back waist their time!...... I like to think as long as they are on the phone with me I'm keeping them from calling someone else!!!!

USSA did tell me that I would receive a call and they want to update the insurance information.  When I did this last year my coverage all changed and our premium went up.  I had to call USAA to correct it, so now when they call I do not answer the call and don't answer their questions.

I got a ring from them today, and they left a message wanting me to update my auto information.  My attorney told me to ignore these enquiries.  I wish I could take the train, but there isn't a decent public transport system where I live.  I hate cars.

... if they only ask you for information that is on file, then why call at all? Why not just send me a message through the USAA website like they do for mortgage and investments? Ask me to go to the site, login, and then take me to a page with all the data fields they need reviewed, and ask me to verify/edit, and then require me to check on a "verified as accurate" radial button or something? I do not like the calls and it is so easy to move to others these days. 34 years of USAA'ness would be a shame to toss in the bin, and my wife's account and both teenage kids account would migrate with me.

Now look at Professional Survey Inc's (the caller's) website professionalsurveys.com and you can see the first item under performance is "Identifying policy uprate potential".  They are all about bringing in incremental income to their clients like USAA.

We have NEVER done business with USAA EVER...and we just got a phone call tonight from PSI USAA asking for a polluted pronunciation of our name. I told them there was nobody here by that name and he apologized an hung up. Less than a minute later we got a call from "UNKNOWN CALLER"...And I don't answer those!!

Just reading some of these comments are hilarious, I imagine the majority of the people posting here probably wear tin foil hats and think the Government is constantly out to get them... I'll be honest I use to work for this company down here for 5 years and they are an awesome company. They DO NOT give out the info of the members that they call or that call in, they are in a VERY strict contract with USAA and USAA is constantly communicating back and forth with PSI to make it a better relationship on their side and with their members. PSI makes money off COMPLETES, so if a member chooses to do their auto insurance update with PSI then PSI will get a little money off that. I noticed PSI is always flexible when it comes to the people they would call up, if a person they call tells them not to call anymore or that they want to do it with JUST USAA they allow them to. It's not like they are a holding a damn gun to your head demanding information. The main reason USAA contracts companies like PSI and etc. to do this type of work is so that their ACTUAL Insurance Agents are available more readily to take calls from the members, and judging by the comments here I'm sure each and everyone of you guys would be bitching about the long wait times that you are being on hold for because there are so many people trying to contact an Insurance Agent.

I hope you guys can stop being so paranoid about such a small thing in life and take a step outside for a second or so and just take a nice breath of fresh air, trust me it'll help a lot. Good Luck.

It's not crazy at all to be skeptical of people phoning you for information. I suspect that's the main reason for the letter from USAA-- to reduce such skepticism.

What you said may be accurate about how PSI earns its keep.  But even if everything else were actually benign, it's a company calling your phone and trying to make money off you.  In that respect, it's not any different than telemarketers that we've all got good reason to mistrust.  I'm sure we all remember what the telephone was like in the 70's.  When it rang, it was very likely a call we wanted.  It's taken a while, but most people these days know to be skeptical when asked for information on the phone.  The motives of the person on the other end are very different than they were 40 years ago.

I have little reason to trust anything you wrote either.  Even if you did work for PSI 5 years ago and thought highly of the company, that doesn't make your ideas about their sharing policies necessarily accurate.  And certainly I can't sue you if your post turns out to be completely wrong.  Which I think it absolutely is when it comes to why USAA contracts them.  It certainly has nothing to do with freeing actual Agents from filling out forms.  I don't need a tin foil hat to know it's about increasing their revenue, and not about reducing queue wait times.

I am retired Federal Law Enforcement and a 25 yr member of NFCU  and  just joined USAA.  After my wife had a recent accident withe her Volvo  this PSI company started calling, I explained to them because of the nature of my former job I will NOT be answering any telephone inquiries . Good; they said they will send me a mailer inquiry and I MUST comply by March 9th 2014.
I got the inquiry  it had a USAA  introductory  letter and I passed it over to my ATTY( for review)  who told me do NOT comply with any of their inquiries. My ATTY told me to go on the USAA website  and OPT out of any 3rd party marketing , its  under the preferences section on their main page AFTER you log in.  My ATTY also noted that the business reply permit envelope witch has the  name USAA and the ulmerton road Largo Florida address may be a VIOLATION of USPS regulations if USAA has no legal office in Florida at that location.  He advised me that any USAA member sent this letter  could  file a complaint with the US Postal Inspection service and let them sort it out . Is this an example of MAIL FRAUD or illegal Redirected mail!  So far I haven't hear from  PSI in the last 30 days either..

This number is for PSI, a "vendor" USAA uses OUR premium money (we are shareholders in the company, right?) to call and try and jack up our rates.  PSI gets a percentage of the increase.  I refuse to talk to them or fill out their idiotic survey. I do NOT appreciate USAA giving out my personal cell phone number.

When they called me I gave them tons of bs information. I then called usaa to give them a hard time. I asked usaa to use their bad data if they wanted... I told usaa that I had them put all my vehicles all over the counry, added rate reduction features to them like tracking system, etc. I told them that I was putting storage on 3 vehicles and100 miles a year on the fourth, mmmm... ,my place of residence is made up (zip code and all!) I spoke to usaa manager and removed my name from psi contacts.

Thanks for all you folks posted.  As for the idiot that said he worked for PSI and all military are idiots, you are such a good advertisement for PSI.  With employees like you, for sure I will never deal with PSI and am changing my privacy options at USAA.  And I blocked PSI's number.

UPDATE:  First two times I called USAA … Note: Website has a big phone security SCAM/Vishing warning… at 1-877-762-7256 (Member Security Advisor Services) the agent “checked records” and said USAA did not call, verified that we did not give out info, and told us to report the number to phonenumberabuse@USAA.com. After further research, entered “PSI” into search box on USAA.com and up pulled all the info about this third party data collector. I called the third time today and this time the agent knew about PSI. I was able to talk with a supervisor and learned that you can opt out of all PSI contact through the INS dept. You may also call to let USAA know about your personal stance on USAA using third party data collection. 1 800 531 USAA (8722).
