    Harassed again
They keep saying they'll take my name off if I'll just answer their questions,
but I would think if you've already answered once and have asked, then a legitimate caller would know that being persistent about this is not in the best interests for their organization.
On another note does anyone know if the FTC actually ACTS on the complaints under DO NOT CALL registry?

GREAT NEWS FLASH!!!   I got a call too and went to the website www.dianetics.org, found it very interesting, took a course and am very glad I actually got the call. I guess mostly complainers put comments on this type of thing so I thought I'd add a different viewpoint.

    - This is Church of Scientology's "Mailing Department" from Clearwater, FL.

    - Several different people from the Church of Scientology previously called from different phone numbers. Earlier this year, they called from this particular number.

    - Keep in mind that the call may be monitored and/or recorded. However, the law may require that you are informed of this fact first before they continue to dialogue with you.

    - It was explained by different people that they wanted to:
      - "make sure we have the right mailing address,"
      - "know about any corrections regarding mailing address,"
      - "check if we are sending mail; and that if we are or aren't, either way, please call. We need to verify records."

    - One caller (female) said that she is "calling anybody who has ever did service for the church" as well as "updating addresses," and looking forward to "getting reacquainted."

    - Now calling from another phone number, it was explained that they are "updating" their "computer files" and making sure mail is being received at the address in their files.

    - NOTE: I have not personally received any mailings for years (until recently) from Church of Scientology at my most previous and current addresses.

    - Not wanting to have anything to do with Scientology over 20+ years ago (and asking to remove my contact information several times back then), they are now trying to contact me after all this time?! They really should just delete those old outdated contact information, instead of trying to search for and verify the people's contact information from years ago in order to update their old computer files/mailing lists to send them unwanted mail once again. It would be most considerate to many if they would just DELETE their old contact lists, since it could be quite upsetting for relatives receiving such phone calls when they call to ask for people who have been deceased for many years. Perhaps they do not really understand that if people in their old database were still interested in Scientology, THEY would be the ones to initiate contact with them (not the other way around). Instead, for some reason, the organization seem to find nothing wrong with continuing to call, insisting on bothering people (even after being previously asked to be removed from their contact lists), and causing such inconvenience and frustration. They are indeed making their own organization really look bad to others, since more and more people are complaining (especially online) about their persistence and unwanted contact. It seems that they do not have a Public Relations professional/contact person in their organization to assess and restructure their Communications and Mailing Departments.

    - From other sources online, it has been advised not to volunteer any extra information to them, as it may just go into your "files" for their records. Also, do not let friendliness of the callers sway you into a personal dialogue, which may lead to softening you up for unwanted purchases and/or commitments to the organizaiton that you may regret later.

    - Instead, if all else fails and you continue to receive unwanted contact via phone and/or mail, do your own further research and consider what the writers suggest above [search online for "(323) 580-5520" and read the posts for July 11, 2010 from "Anonymous" and Oct. 13, 2010 from "(bleep)___ Scientology"].

    - Visit the website that was suggested above: http://www.xenu.net  and educate yourself with what this organization is all about and with the reports by some (including former Scientologists who worked in the organization) who have chosen to speak out and warn others. Be very cautious about their beliefs/teachings, because it is described by others (including those who were once involved in Scientology), as a "cult" that will try to draw you in and keep you under false teachings and various methods of mind control.

    - They were previously asked to stop calling for me at relatives' house (where I do not reside); and to also completely remove my contact information from all their lists, but they did not listen. And the calls continued. And continued. And continued. Several sources advise to not even bother speaking to them, because they won't listen and won't remove you from their contact lists. Sadly, this has been true for me. But I do not understand why, since it really is bad publicity for their own organization and cause. They have now boldly sent an unwanted item that was NOT even requested. Needless to say, after taking a photo of the package, it was immediately refused and returned back to the U.S. Post Office unopened.

    - I am praying that God would intervene; that they would realize to just immediately remove my contact information from all their files, and cease calling (especially my relatives' house, where I do not reside) and sending any further mail. But more so, I am praying that God would bless all these people who are searching for truth with the only "way, the truth, and the life": The truth is found in the Bible, which is Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of His people, the only hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation.

The Church of Scientology policy about mailing lists, as written by founder L Ron Hubbard decades ago, is to *never* remove a name from the lists unless one of 2 things occur:

    1) The person is deceased.
    2) Legal action is threatened/begun

There are no other ways to be removed ...ever.  This was still in force when Hubbard died in the 1980s.  No one but Ron can alter "Source" (anything ever written by L Ron Hubbard), and since he is no longer around to revise or cancel this written policy, this policy will never die.  They will continue to update lists any way they can and continue writing or calling as long as Scientology exists.

Even the two acceptable ways to get off the list are not foolproof ...I witnessed it disobeyed when the Head of the Communications Department looked at a piece of mail returned, marked "deceased," and told me to continue sending promotional materials anyway because someone at the address might open it, read about Scientology, and then decide to buy a book or begin a service --however, this was against Church policy and should not have occurred (human error of a sort).  Any call is really an attempt to make contact and get into some kind of dialog introducing Scientology or rehabilitating a past member's desire to be involved.  These calls will not cease.

If you don't know how to block calls on your phone, call your phone company and find out how. I just keep adding numbers to the Block list on my account.  It saddens me that some good experiences with Scientology have been overshadowed by this kind of mindless, misguided behavior that poisons any thought I ever have of being re-involved. Good luck.

    Elizabeth,

You are a liar and a scientologist.

You are obviously trying to "repair" the horrendous reputation of your cult.
Scientology is a dangerous cult. The fact you haven't realized that is pathetic. No one here is drinking your kool-aid, go pedal it elsewhere.
