(727)868-6336 is the number for the public awareness call center for www.OfficerDownFoundation.org  If you received a call from this number you were being contacted regarding the Foundation's call to action.  If you do not wish to be contacted in the future, go to their website contact page and submit the phone number you do not wish called.  Non-profits are exempt from the National Do Not Call registry UNLESS you request the charity place your number on their internal Do Not Call list.  If you have a complaint against the caller, there are phone numbers listed on the website where you can contact Foundation management.

This is obviously a scam, as I did a reverse search and found it's a private home number of the Colantino's in Hudson, FL.

I want it stopped.

I agreed to have the caller send me a donation packet so I could get the phone number and address.  I don't have caller  id on that particular phone.  When, or if,  the material arrives, I will report the info to the proper authorities.

after thinking about the call it concerned me as I thought it just may be an Officer  hit and just dialed my number trying to reach help. The Law needs to catch these People because that could happen...Not  likely however not Impossable...........

BTW.  I didn't make it to the Phone however I do have it on my caller Id....

Got a call tonight from a very rude guy pretending he had called the wrong number. He then said he was from the non profit officers down org. I told him I was not interested and was also on the do not call list. He informed me, that did not include them..since they are non profit. I told him a few more times.. nicely and semi nicely before having to yell a few times more I was not donating. He still would not give up.  I just hung up. I looked online about the place and I keep seeing "scam". I have no idea if it's a scam or not.. but I do know they are way to DEMANDING of my money, for it to be from a police organization. Or I would think anyway.  What I did was go to the FCC website and put in a complaint. It was very easy to do. It did help the info was also on my caller ID with the date and time.  I will now write down if they call again and keep putting in the complaints.

They called a few minutes ago and didn't leave a message when I let the voicemail take the call.  Best to just not give to any phone solicitor or more calls will come in the future as the phone solicitor that you give to will likely make more money selling your number as a hot prospect to other phone beggars, scammers, and telemarketers.  Don't give them a cent!

Having had several police officers in the family, I picked up the phone when I saw "Officer Down".  I explained that if they wanted to send me information I would look at it and determine if I wanted to send some something once I could investigate the charity.  I was told that any donation would be entirely tax-deductible and would go 100% to the assistance of those peace officers in the State of Virginia (where I currently live), that they were not telemarketers and represented the "Officer Down Foundation" directly.  I told them to send me the info and would make a $25 donation in the mail.  

I immediately began checking on-line and can find nothing substantive except a badly designed web site that shows only 3 individuals with vague backgrounds listed.  The Foundation has no tax exempt number as of yet, though it looks as if an application is pending.  The Foundation is based in Texas and the phone call came out of Florida.

I've sent a message to my local law enforcement agency seeking to find out if they have any knowledge and or contact with the foundation.  I intend to pack up all the information I found and send it back to them as an explanation as to why I will not be sending the $25.00.

I got the call today, but it came fron (727) 447-3906 and showed up on Caller ID as Officer Down Foundation.  Richard asked for $15.00 and said they are 501(c)(3).  Their Web Site (www.officerdownfoundation.org) shows they have not obtained Tax Exempt status yet; i.e. "Pending".  I give my money to the Fraternal Order of Police (locally, State Level & Nationally).  The FOP is the nation's oldest and largest Law Enforcement organization.  They have stood by me and been there for my friends during critical incidents and incidents where officers needed legal advice or assistance.  I will continue to support FOP.

It said Officer Down Fo...I answered, said hello a couple times, and they hung up. Weird and annoying.

I live in Tenn. and received a phone call from the Officer Down Foundation today.  The guy said we gave before and wanted to know if they could count on our support again this year.  The guy wanted to know if we could give in a higher bracket this year since they are short on funds.  I asked what the higher bracket might be.  I recall him saying something like $500 to which I promptly laughed and said NO!  He said well the other bracket was still available and he wanted to know if I could give $35, $50, $100, etc.  He was somewhat pushy and asked what amount he could mark me down for.  I questioned him and asked if he expected me to pay right now.  He said no but he wanted to make sure the receipt was included in the mailing that I would receive.  He asked to confirm my first name for the letter he was sending.  He asked to confirm the address. He mentioned something about sending decals as well. He reminded me to promptly pay upon receipt of the information.  I did not have caller ID on my phone so I am not sure what number this guy was calling from.  I have donated to police and fire organizations in the past but typically they are local.  I am going to stick with the local charities after reading this information on the website.  Interesting that I taped Hell's Kitchen yesterday and watched it tonight.  A news program happen to mention something about Officers Down and if money is what they were looking for. I did not hear the news program so I am not sure what was said on the local news.  I went on-line to see what I could find once I saw that small excerpt in the news program.

Got a call at 1:30 p.m.  Left no msg.  Tried to call back to tell them not to call me and got a recording. I was laying down, not feeling well and this harrassment is very inconvenient.  Wish I could personally punch them out.
