- JayReceived a call from this number at 12:30pm. Woman asked for me, and I told her that it was me, and she went on about "congradulations i had be selected for a sweetstakes" she mummbled on the prizes that I could win, and then she asked me if I had a Visa, Master Card or some other Credit Card. I told her I was not intrested in whatever it was, and she just said ok and good luck in the sweepstakes and hung up. The woman didn't reveal a company name or anything, and all it showed up on the caller ID was "TOLLFREE NUMBER" it's sad I haven't had this number but a week and being annoyed constantly by telemarking...

- Lynnewe just got our number on tuesday of last week and recieved a phone call from this company. came on here to see if it was a scam. guess it is!! so the phone company sells the numbers? and. if ic all and say remove me from the list will they do so or will they keep calling.
- annoyedI got new phone service with Time Warner. I haven't given the number to ANYONE. A couple of days later, I got a call from an annoying telemarketer who asked for me by name...(800)257-5722. When I informed the girl on the other end that my number was on the DoNotCall list and that she was calling at an inconvenient time, she held the phone and didn't respond. Ironically, after that, I began receiving calls from 415-707-0560. I have no proof but a suspicion that they are from the same location.
When I contacted Time Warner with my suspicion that they had sold my information, they assured me that they hadn't and that I most definitely had signed up for something or given the number to someone in order for them to have my name.
Terrible business practices. If you're going to sell my information, tell me or at least put it in fine print or something. To sell your customers information and not make them aware of it in any form is a horrible business practice.- Caller: Some kind of Sweepstakes Co.
- TraciJust got Comcast phone service less than a week ago and have gotten a few telemarketing calls over the past few days. Makes me think they sell new numbers that don't opt to be non-published.

- Painted PonyJust got my first telemarketing call on my new land line phone number. The kid was very polite and introduced himself representing IRL Sweepstakes in Norcross, Georgia. IRL is Interstate Readers League located at 3145 reps miller road, norcross, georgia. Background noise obviously dictated telemarketers. He wanted to know what credit card companies I am with. Of course, I declined to provide my personal financial info over the phone, but how many other people get too excited over the sweepstake prizes...$25k, plus Chevelle Malibu, plus other prizes...too good to be true. 3 minutes later Viking Magazine called. They are both affiliated. I picked up the phone and said, "Take this number off of your calling list." Then, I got online and added my new number to the No Call List...which will take affect April 1st...until then, it's war on the phone lines...thanks probably to CenturyLink or Embarq which controls the number dissemination re new phone numbers. Since I once worked for a long distance telephone company, I know how it works...it's been this way for years and no one seems to want to control it...not even FCC.

- ChristineAnswered the call to nobody on the other line. I called them back and they said it was IRL Sweepstakes and that my phone number (which is a new AT&T line) was picked and entered in the Dream of A Lifetime Sweepstakes. I thought it was fishy/phisy and hung up.

- ClaudeYep, me too. Got the call about 6:30 pm on a number we've had for about a week and a half. Caller ID said 257-5722, no 800. My wife took the call. She didn't give any info and when she refused to give any, the caller said she'd just enter her in the sweepstakes and just hung up on her. I had a funny feeling about the call and I Googled the number and found this and lots of other sites about scams. Then I called the number back and a guy answered and I asked him how he slept at night. He said very well, and asked me why I asked. Then I told him he was a scam, that they were all over the internet and they'd better not call this number again. At this point he started to yell "eat me" over and over at me and I hung up. It was pretty fun. I think I'll call the Pennsylvania DA (where I live) tomorrow.
