- maddieI received a letter from the fraud department stating that an application for Amazon Case credit card was submitted using my name and ss#. I was reluctant to call, as I did not submit an application for this. This is, indeed, Chase Fraud department. The application was canceled and I will be receiving a form to fill out for Transunion. i also contacted AllClear which both my husband and I belong to and had a fraud alert posted on my account. You can never be too careful.
- Caller: Chase Fraud
- jack replies to Chase Fraud Prevention guyI just call chase and they told me everything is ok with my card, and they don't call me at all.
- PamI got a letter in the mail telling me to call this number. Something about a payment I had authorized through an Amazon account. Gave a long reference number to cite when I call. Instead of calling this number, I called my chase card customer service. They said that nothing had been flagged on my account and no attempts to contact me in ANY way for ANY reason in the last 60 days. She said that it sounded very suspicious. She said that they wouldn't send a letter like that.

- RebeccaI received a letter with a reference number and in the letter asked to call 800-278-8830 to confirm the application. I called the number and the girl on the line first asked for my phone number to send a verification code to and then after that said they were sending out a SSA-89 to confirm my Social Security number. Once I heard that I hung up immediately.
- Buckshot800 278 8830 called and showed as restricted. Went to voicemail and left message referencing Chase Fraud dept and Amazon. I made 2 direct calls to Chase and they confirmed both times that they did NOT attempt to contact me and that this number is not a valid Chase contact. It is a phishing attempt only. Do not call them or give them any info.

- NICE TRY!SCAMMMMMERS! PRETENDING TO BE CHASE BANK. They left a reference number, I called chase number on the back of our card. CHASE did NOT try to contact us. I got suspicious when the CALLER would NOT text us a verification number to the Phone NUmber that should be in Chase Banks System.

- Not SCAMMED!| 1 replyCONFIRMED SCAMMER!!! Toll free number 800-278-8830 is the callback number for criminals attempting to run 'PHISHING' scams on senior citizens. They call claiming to be from "Chase Fraud Department" and you applied for a card... In my case, it was an application for a "UNITED CLUB" Premium Travel Benefits Card from Chase. However, I have never applied for such a card. Also, the real Chase Fraud Department has confirmed, 800-278-8830 is NOT connected to Chase in any way. DO NOT GET SCAMMED!!!

- Another| 2 repliesThis is very confusing. I just called Chase customer services (listed on Chase website) and they said that 1800-278-8830 IS a legitimate line for application fraud protection. I do find it odd that they ask you to read back a verification code sent by text (what is the purpose?)
- Caller: Chase
- JackReacher replies to AnotherNothing confusing about it. The number was spoofed and your callers now have access to your account.
