HAHA…. I love this. She was really nice, but I was like WTF.

The phone call was legit but there are frauds out there wanting the same info.
Never give your SSN to anyone that calls you… no matter what.- Caller: Wells Fargo Dealer Services
- SEARSHI receive calls from this number 800-279-9301 several times a day in which they have failed to leave a message. True I also purchased a car and went through Wells Fargo but was denied a loan after I was already approved by them. So no reason for them to be calling.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Mountain WomanWe received a call from these people today, claiming to be from Wells Fargo. They've been calling all week while we were out, and not leaving a message. The man on the phone said "May I speak to Carl Gregory" which was the name of the dealership where we bought the vehicle. Then he stammered and stuttered and said he wanted to speak to my husband. I said my name was on the account too. Then he stammered some more and said he needed to verify a few things starting with my social security number. When I told him I had no proof that he was with Wells Fargo, he mumbled something about a welcome letter and hung up. Wells Fargo employee trying to do a little identity theft on the side?
- Caller: Said they were Wells Fargo
- NanaI got 17 calls in one day. No messages. I called this morning and told they are Wells Fargo. I said I have nothing to do with them. Told them to stop calling and not to call again. Well mam we have to follow up on your seevices. I said I don't have any thing to follow up on. They then wanted the number then my name. Told them they have my number and no way my name. So stop or I will file against them. Hung up
- Caller: Wells fargo
- LisaIt is a legitimate number for Wells Fargo. They just want to say thank you for using them.
- SherylThis number is calling me several times a day but leaving no message. If it is a Wells Fargo, I have no business dealings with them whatsoever.
- NormaI have received 7 calls from them in two days. I finally picked up on one yesterday only to be told to hold on for the next available operator. If seriously doubt as this is Wells Fargo as I have no dealings with them.
- BrittanyI recently financed a car from Wells Fargo and was told by the dealership that I would receive everything in the mail. Even if it's just a welcome call it is extremely annoying for them to call so frequently and then refuse to leave a message. Really making me angry.
- Davidcalls several times a day. no ID is provided with their number, no voice mail is ever left. I do not answer calls that do not identify who they are - too many scams out there to take the chance. If you're legit - why not send an ID with your number and/or leave a voice mail? If it is wells fargo - you need to rethink the way you contact your customers.
- Caller: Unknown - others say Wells Fargo
- AlI received a call just today March 20th, 2018 from this number 800-279-9301.
The guy said: “This call will be recorded, may I speak with _____?”
I said: “Who is calling please?”
The guy said: “Can I have your Social Security Number please?”
I said: “ who is calling and can you please identify yourself please?!”
The guy says: “May I please verify you Social Security”.
At this point I didn’t -OF COURSE NOT- give any information and I hang up and block this number from my cell phone. I right away called Wellsfargo Dealer Services at 800-289-8004 who is the legit contact info and spoke with a lady who tells me that was them who called my cell phone. I right away ask her about how do they call and what type of practices they use in order to get in contact with their clients because the way my call was handle was very un-profesional and it sounded like someone was hacking fraudulent my personal information! The lady in Wellsfargo Dealer Services said: “ What can I help you with!”
I literally told the lady to take my contact information out of their data service and to not EVER contact me again or I will take legal actions and I know the law! The lady said: “Ok, anything else I can help you with?”. I said nope and hang up.
This is insane!!! No one should be calling you without introducing themselves first and letting you know WHO is calling first and ask you right in there for you to give your social security number!! That is insane!! Just block their number and if they really need to contact you, they can send you a letter! Period. Such of bad customer service, what a bad experience!!!

- J Walker EsqReceived a call from 800-279-9301 - like others have reported the person on the line took a while to identify exactly why they were calling but did mention Wells Fargo Welcome. I hung up (realized that I just financed a vehicle through Wells ) and I called right back and a different person answered and identified themselves by name and that they were with Wells Fargo Welcome. At the same time, I received a call from the same number 800-279-9301, it was the same woman as before. I asked more questions that she did and did determine that it was a call for my vehicle financing. She was able to give me my address, year make model of my vehicle, my account number and payment options. I never gave my SSN. Not a scam, but a better introduction from the caller would have helped.
- Caller: Wells Fargo Car Finance
- Jim ComptonThe call that I got was from Wells Fargo auto, the company that is servicing the loan for our new car. It was all logistical, about payment schedule, setting up auto pay, etc.

- BECKYI recently purchased a car, they knew dealer where I bought it, claimed to be from Wells Fargo calling to verify some information when I told her I would not confirm any info over the phone because they are calling me, she quickly excused herself and hang up. No caller id name

- johnthey said wells fargo calling to verify my vehicle financing information ... ha ha i dont have any vehicle financing anf if i did it wouldnt be from Wells Fargo SCAMMER CALL
- Caller: SAID WELL FARGO

- richI received a call from this number as well. It may legitimately be Wells Fargo as I too had recently purchased a vehicle and the financing was through them. The first question they asked me was for my SSN. That's where I stopped the conversation. I just told them never give that information over the phone and they said I would be receiving something in the mail. I'm now re-thinking my decision to finance with them. I purchased a house about 15 years ago and they bought out the loan. I refinanced when the loan was three years old because of their horrible service. After all the lawsuits they experienced I thought i would give them another try. They gave me a great interest rate, but I think I may pay for that in crappy customer service. May have to re-finance if it doesn't.
A word of caution to all others out there. Never give your SSN to anyone over the phone. I guarantee you if you have a loan through Wells Fargo they already know you're SSN. I used to be a Patrol Deputy Sheriff and I would see cases like it almost daily.- Caller: Wells Fargo
