- problem solvedOk, so I had been getting calls everyday from this number. A robot woman voice with australian accent leaves a message that is truncated after 30 seconds.
So I called the number in my caller ID and got a similar voice "Thank you for calling progressive financial services", finally after 1 minute call was answered by Denise. I asked her to remove my number from the phone list. She asked me if I know a "person name" and I said no, this is a new phone just installed here. She said "sorry about that, we will remove your phone number" and then she hung up.
ok so let's cross fingers.
Several institutions, including Department of Education have called asking for this person, Obviously attempting to collect a college loan.- Caller: Progressive Financial Services

- UGHI get roughly 10 calls a day from this number, always silence, i will have to start waiting 30 seconds to see if its a recording. Im ready to go down to their place of business.
If you google maps Progressive Financial, an address comes up in tempe, az. maybe 50 miles from me, but could potentially be worth it. - JaimeI keep getting called by this number the times I have answered I get a recording and then they say the line is busy then I hang up I am sick and tired of getting harassed by these people about ready to change my phone number!
- MeganOk I also get calls from this 1-800-347-1631.... And at one point like a month ago, I did get several calls also from this 602-453-8901 and at first I never answered but finally I did and it was like the caller hit the mute button, someone was there but no sound. That's an Arizona area code and because I lived in Phoenix for 4 years w/my now ex bf and I still know ppl there, I decided to answer... I actually paid to find out the name of the caller and you do realize, for anyone getting calls from that number, this is the HOME number to a Brian Gaona, not a business... I have no clue if that number was calling for me, or for my ex, but if they call again I will answer and probably yell that my ex is not available here, for a year now, and to stop !@#$%^! calling LOL
- Caller: Progressive Financial
- Megan replies to ScammedI suggest you check your credit score, even though it seems Progressive is scamming it sounds like.... If someone really is using your address, you should know. I mean $6500 is a lot!! I only say this because I'm repairing my credit now but for ages now, on the positive part of my credit, it has said that in 2003 I applied and was approved for "blank" department store credit card and stated my limit, and that it was paid off and closed in 2005. The only thing is, YES I did apply for this card years ago, but I was declined! I'm in the process of finding out weather or not it's worth it to dispute, simply because it is on the positive section of my credit report, not the negative. But I would make sure there's no odd $6500 on your credit score, if someone really got your address, who's to say they didn't get your social number somehow (I mean someone maybe have had mine, to open this credit card, either that or the sale's lady lied to me about being decline and I really was approved and SHE used my card). Check your credit report.
- JennyGot an automated message from a Kathleen Brooks with this callback number, saying that I'm in some sort of debt. WTF?

- AnnieGot a call yesterday around 11:15 am while I was talking to my daughter on the cell phone this call came in on the landline. Very annoying to have to listen to it as we were conversing on the cell phone.
Then today another call comes in on the landline and it is from this number 800-347-1631. They didn't leave a message but I heard some woman saying something on the phone like a recorded message. I couldn't get to the phone in time though to really hear what was being said.
I am going to block this number off with call blocking. Don't know how they got our landline number because we are very careful with it. We don't have any debt so this is soooo bogus. ugh. I hate it when debt collection agencies harass/bother innocent parties.- Caller: unknown

- Bigdrew75Just to let everyone know in the Phoenix area. Progressive Financial is a collection service for not only Debt, but for those pesky photo radar tickets that some of us including myself decided not to pay because the DMV didn't have anything to do with. So just because you don't owe a credit company doesn't mean that ticket went away.

- eyecueI got a call for Jeffry John Karp. Press 2 if you are not him. I did and was disconnected. I called back and sure enough the first thing they want is a social security number or account number. I told them that I dont have one and that I am getting these calls and have had this phone for years. I told them that I dont know who he is. THey were polite and said they would remove the number.

- Markthis is a collection company, they left a message with some name on it I do not know. The message indicates that if you are not that party it is YOUR PROBLEM to call and let them know.
I have had this phone number for 20 years.
I will see if the police and phone company agree it is MY PROBLEM to correct their records.- Call type: Debt collector

- FEDUP!| 1 replyI recieved a message to call Progressive Finance. The woman had left an extention to call her at. A man answered not asking for the extension. The first thing he asked for was my SS. What a scam and that's just what I told him.
- Caller: Progressive Finance
- FEDUP replies to FEDUP!I called a second time and all they told me before I really got pissed was it was about the University of Washington. I told the woman I never had anything to do with the University of Washington and it was a scam. Knowing that an agency like this had ruined my daughters credit I started getting worried. I googled Progressive Finance. It's a national company and there was nothing about a scam like there had been about the company that ruined my daughters credit when I googled it when she found out her credit was ruined. I called the home office figuring the people with the 800-347-1631 were using their name. The woman couldn't check that number but put my number in and it was not in their system. o I then called 800-347-1631 and my number was no longer in their system.

- Mary DragerWhat a bother and waste of my time, not to mention the service to even make the call. I knew it was ka-pooy. The guy refused any info regarding - anything - and said it was a federal reg. to give out info. AND said it was critical to reach the person he called. Got his # which is the one sited above.
- AnnoyedThis number shows up on the home# and cell; turns out it's progressive financial who's trying to collect a debt from 1991! Really I don't even know these people or what they are talking about.

- Rude Representative!| 1 replyLast week, I finally, answer the phone to this number (800-347-1631). I female tells me they are Progressive Financial (a debt collection agency) trying to collect a nearly $200 debt. As I know I do have a debt out for books from an old college semester a few years back I think nothing of it being a scam. After I tell her (and rather curtly because the woman did not get on phone right away, it was an automated msg stating all representatives are busy...which pissed me off fro the start) a bit of my situation and that I can not pay right now. She gets so rude and honestly says, "Well maybe if you got a job you could pay your bills!" I couldn't believe it! No real knowledge of my situation (why I don't work). I ask to speak to her manager, she puts me on hold a second, then comes on to say she is transferring me and "you can tell him why you aren't paying your bills." I am on hold for 3 minutes before I hang up.
They call again everyday (even later that day from this number: 610-142-932...how I have no clue (not even a full number). I answer today to tell them I will pay in full until the woman says it's nearly $800. Wait! It was only $200 last week! She says that is the only account they have for me. I tell her I can not pay. (This woman is nice-ish) says they can set up a bill pay. I say I will have to let her know how much but can't right now. Instead of giving me a number to call she says she will just call back tomorrow. This, combined with the price difference (and no mention on either end of the problem child I had last week), I begin to wonder if this is legit.- Caller: Progressive Financial Services
