- KiraJust received this today. Can't begin to say how unprofessional this looks. We are two months behind on my mortgage. Not enough time to start any kind of foreclosure. This reeks of a scam. And wow if it really is WF doing this someone needs to learn to cut paper better this looks like a 5 year old put it together with his computer, printer, sloppy writing and cutting.
- benoitarmandEnvelope on my door marked "confidential" with this number written inside. Scam
- maryEnvelope was left on my door. I look out the peephole to see who it was. I see a woman taking pictures of my house. She is walking around it. I open the door and she said that she is leaving a note for the mortgage company. However the note doesn't have any letter head for the company. Plus I already talk to the company
- Concerned homeownerI called wells Fargo at the number I always use and due to the response received the number is valid but it seems to be a case of the left-hand not knowing what the right-hand is doing... basically they set up inspections and even though you are in contact with them they still go ahead with the inspection to make sure the property is occupied. Yet they don't knock on the door just place the flier and leave. It wasn't on the door when I got home, but when I had a visitor a few hours later it was hanging on the door knob. I was in the main room near the door the whole time and heard no knocking. Funny way to check occupancy.

- JCMSame basic thing as above: note taped to the door. We are a month behind, but we've been catching up. We've also received a notice that we're included in a class action against WF for unnecessary "property inspections". I also was struck by how unprofessional it is to leave a plain envelope with big yellow tape and CONFIDENTIAL scrawled across it in large black letters. Same plain piece of paper, just says to call your mortgage lender, "Dear Borrower". Someone from the local WF office did visit here a couple of years back, and they left a door hanger with a WF business card stapled to it. It's possible they're outsourcing to these very unprofessional people - it sounds like a mixed message from the above calls. They used to have the number, it is a valid number, it's tied into property inspections. All in all, it sounds like a scam somehow unfortunately, the fact that people are behind on their mortgage seems to be available on a mailing list that's sold, or in some unsecured fashion, because we get occasional letters offering to "help" with our mortgage woes. I suspect that may be at work here.
Let me encourage everyone to report this by any means possible. These sites are great in sharing information, but I'm struck by the helplessness of the tone. Report it, even if it's just to a consumer bulletin board or website; and ideally write the State AG. You won't get immediate personal attention, but the force of erosion is powerful. Nothing will happen unless everyone pitches their shoulder to the wheel and puts enough pressure on to prosecute scammers like this. This is the truth. Please do your part. - AliceMillerI have been with Wells Fargo for a long time. I received this note on my door . I have talked to W.F. and they never leave anything in door. They mail all correspondence to you. With their name on it.

- HaleyI work in Field Mortgage Services and my job is to deliver a confidential envelope with a banks phone number on it to certain properties address. The banks tell us very little about why we are dropping off the note but most cases it is because the mortgagor is behind on payment or they think the house is vacant and want to check occupancy. We are a company that the bank hires to deliver notices, not actually the bank.
