    I looked that number up and the company has two names American Agencies and NRA National Recovery Agency- which are both debt collectors. I don't think they are legit besides I don't owe anything. I also have lifelock which gives me an update every month on my credit report- if I owed anything it would show up on there. What company has two names - creepy.  Also you can't return their calls you get a fast busy.  Seems like a load of bs.  Also I couldn't understand what the person was saying.  Don't give them any information and call block them.

    People just buy a Panasonic phone with up to 300 call block numbers. That is the only way to stop these criminals and lowlifes. It just keeps getting worse, the more you put on the do not contact list etc..the more they contact you. Nobody cares about the law or fines etc. with the call block , they get three only once. If they can’t tell me why they are calling my house in plain English. They get blocked. If they use another number, same there. They get threw once. Schools out.

    NATIONAL RECOVERY AGENCY advertises this as their number for debtors to contact them. They state they are a "nationwide provider of accounts receivable management" aka DEBT COLLECTORS!   {updated 04-01-2018}

    If you choose to answer the phone you will need to verify your NAME in order for them to speak with you. DO NOT ADMIT TO ANY DEBT or give them ANY further information, including address, email, etc. Simply ask the caller for his/her name, the collection company they work for and the name of the creditor they claim to represent. Make written note of this information. THEN ASK if they are licensed to practice in your state & write down their answer & the date and time you spoke. Tell the caller that if they have a valid contract to collect on behalf of any creditor that claims you are indebted to them, that they can contact you to VALIDATE that debt by CERTIFIED MAIL.

    ** They already have your address if it is a valid debt...  Politely remind them of that if they ask you to validate your address and continue to ANSWER NO FURTHER QUESTIONS.

    Instruct them to include a copy of their CONTRACT with the ORIGINAL DEBTOR and a FULL ACCOUNTING OF THE DEBT they claim is owed. Tell them to include a copy of any and all receipts, bills, statements and payment history provided to them FROM THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR they claim to represent. Wish them a nice day and hang up the phone. Go about your day.

    If they have an ENFORCEABLE debt they must contact you as you requested. If they "bought your debt" as part of a multi-million dollar package, they will not have the proof required to VALIDATE your debt. In this case THEY purchased the receivable debt; THEY own it now and can only collect from you if you admit to owing the debt. Remember that YOUR liability is with the ORIGINAL CREDITOR that extended you credit, NOT with a collection agency that gambled that they could get you to pay them and BOUGHT your unsecured debt for pennies on the dollar.... (By the way, the Original Creditor no longer owns the receivable and cannot pursue you or receive money from you if the debt collector BOUGHT your debt.)

    It’s not a scam, it’s a DEBT COLLECTOR attempting to collect a debt. Wanna have fun with them?

    (1)    Enter phone number into your call list/caller ID as a debt collector.
    (2)    When they call again answer the phone in an authoritive voice, “Detective YourLastName”. Don’t be surprised if they just hang up….
    (3)    Chuckle!
    (4)    OPTIONAL:  Program your mobile phone to forward the call back to their number and see how they like that. Chuckle again!

    Unfortunately, the new number you were given, formerly belonged to somebody else. I don't think that the providers leave those numbers dead for long enough time. I had a temporary number after I switched providers and got calls from a crazy preacher who threatened with death, suffering and going to hell several times a day on my answering machine if I would not call back and listen to God's word (will say make a 'donation'). This got very scary sometimes when, in the middle of the night, this imbecile roared into the phone. Somehow, I think, the previous owner of this phone number was in contact with them. So, a new number, even if it's unlisted, does not save you from calls intended for whoever owned the number before you.
    That said, I just received a phone call from this number after business hours and you actually only get the emergency number and would have to know the extension to get to me.
    The woman did not identify herself and asked for a Kelvin. I told her that she must have a wrong number and she said thank you and hung up. Caller ID shows American Agency.
